Spring Compression
Hello guys, My problem is to compress a spring which has an unstable behaviour. I would like to bring it at solid length but the run die prematurely. My approach is the classic "Static, General" procedure and I afraid the Riks procedure is more appropriate. I'm not familiar with that procedure. Linear Perturbation Buckling Analysis with Contacts
Hello Simulia community, In my FE model I have an analytical rigid surface contacting a shell model using 'General Contact'. I am performing linear perturbation Eigenvalue buckling analysis using subspace solver (because of presence of Contacts). I have created an intermediate step in which a displacement load is applied to ensure surfaces are contacting, followed by the Buckle step. The NLGEOM is ON because of Contacts. The resulting mode shapes and eigenvalues seems absurd. I am doubting this
Why am I getting an error for another user modifying my files in session when I am the only user?
I am getting the following error requiring a global refresh and loss of progress fairly regularly: Problem : The object has been modified by another user since you opened it Advice : Update data with Global refresh before switch Can someone advise what to do to a) prevent this from occuring and b) to continue the save without losing local changes? Defining shear curve directly in Abaqus
Hi, I am currently simulating a bonded composite joint in Abaqus. The adhesive layer is very flexible and exhibits non‑linear plasticity. When I use the tensile test data of the adhesive in my material model, the simulation results do not match the experimental behaviour, likely because the adhesive responds quite differently in the actual joint configuration. setup mesh FEM to use on static study
Good day every one I did my training on FEM and mechanical static simulation using one part and assembly with two parts maximum. I am now working with a larger assembly (13 parts). I use the Structural Model Creation app, which is very effective for setting up meshing for each part (hexa mesh for some parts, tetrahedron mesh for others). Hello, I am trying to recover the job that was aborted due to a disk storage issue (mpiexec failed). I am running just one step (step-1) (output is 50s). And I put an interval of 50 for the restart file request. Previously, the simulation aborted due to a power issue, and I could restart from 46 seconds and finish it at 50 seconds (finish step 1). The sled is moving at a constant speed. About halfway down, the pusher accelerates in such a way that the box has virtually 0 velocity when it falls off the back. The model was built in the Abaqus Learning Edition and animated in the Physics Results Explorer app.

Simpack rail Excitation/postprocessing problem
Hello, I am currently replicating Manchester benchmarks vehicle 1 in Simpack rail. During this work I faced a problem in the simulation or postprocessing of the results. I have generated Track 2 simulation case, where a step excitation of 5mm is induced to the tracks (picture below). Otherwise, the track is straight. Simulation of High-Frequency Coil Above SRF: How to Handle Meshing of Narrow Inter-Turn Gaps?
I want to simulate a high-frequency inductor coil, where the frequency is so high that the parasitic capacitance of the coil cannot be ignored, and it even exceeds the self-resonant frequency of the coil. However, I found that the simulated self-resonant frequency is higher than expected. Upon analysis, I suspect that this might be due to the mesh in the time-domain solver being too coarse, with mesh sizes larger than the spacing between coil turns, causing the mesh to directly bridge the gaps

Is it possible to execute a comi file using Opera solvers from an external command line? There is a batch processor within the CST manager but only accessible through the GUI. I am applying a heat flux load to various surfaces (SURFFLUX), i have 14 total, each of these use their own UAMP. for example: Surfflux1 uses UAMP_01, this continues until Surfflux14 uses UAMP_14. Hi Community, I would like to perform a simulation in two steps: first, an implicit thermomechanical simulation, followed by an explicit structural simulation. To reduce simulation time, I intend to run the first step using Abaqus/Implicit. The elements involved are hexahedral elements for the sealing component. Hello SIMULIA community, I have a question regarding the contour integral procedure. I know about 'Interaction Integrals' which is the technique ABAQUS uses to arrive at the Stress Intensity Factors (K's). ABAQUS doc states that 'This capability is available for isotropic and anisotropic materials’ when referring to interaction integrals . In this case the J-integrals calculated from the Ks will also be output. This is why we see two J-integral results: If ABAQUS is outputting J value

I am however running into problems regarding the coupling between track and bridge i.e. the markers for connecting force elements. CST - Multilayer PCB export from CST
Hi, I'm using PCB export to create multilayer gerber files of an antenna design. To simplify naming of layers, I would like to know how to easily change how are the layer named (see name and use file columns below). If the numbering would be consistent, then it would be ok for me, but now, exported gerber files have names from 0 to 33, when actual number of layers is from 0 to 25. Opera - particle tracking
I am a beginner using CST OPERA module to create some basic particle tracking models. My model consists of two opposite charged electrodes with an electron emitter in the center. For some reason the electron tracks are only getting saved when the Anode-cathode spacing is less than 10 cm. Beyond this, there are no tracks to display. This is not a physics issue as an increase in the accelerating voltage is not affecting this upper cutoff length of 10 cm. Is there something I am missing? FYI: I

Grouping geometric bodies and dividing them into meshes
Hello everyone, I've recently been using 3DEXPERIENCE to learn simulation analysis and encountered some issues during geometry meshing. Previously, I used HyperMesh for meshing, where I could split and group geometry within the software. I'm unsure how to achieve geometry grouping and separate meshing in 3DEXPERIENCE. I've noticed that this software only allows meshing of the entire geometry at once.

Occurred in Abaqus/Explicit. I have a problem when I submit a job with predefined field calculated by Abaqus/Standard. I succeed sometimes, but usually met this error. I tried to use 1 cpu, and met the same error. The error wouldn't exist while I delete predefined field calculated by Abaqus/Standard. I changed work_dictionary for some times, turned off Intel Hyper-Threading, no use. I use Abaqus 2025, cpu intel i5 14900k, ram=128GB.

How fast a heated brake system cools down (cooldown) and how the temperatures of different brake parts change in time as the system repeatedly heats up and cools down (drive cycle) can be simulated in the brake cooldown and drive cycle workflows, respectively, using PowerFLOW and PowerTHERM. In both workflows, once the convective cooling effects are accurately assessed in coupled PowerFLOW-PowerTHERM simulation(s), it is required to update the model parameters for a transient thermal simulation.

General Contact between a Shell and Analytical Rigid Surface
Hello Simulia community, I am modeling a cylindrical shell consisting of two holes diagonally situated. An analytical rigid cylindrical surface (lifting pin) passes through and through these holes. I am using General Contact to simulate the contact between the rigid surface and the shell. The only load is "gravity". This is to simulate the lifting of the cylindrical shell with the aid of analytical surface. See picture below. I am receiving the below warning. However, my solution do converge.
