MPC Connector issue
Hi, I am modeling a MPC-Tie type connector. The connector section is applied to a wire feature that connect two points in a model. The reason why the MPC is defined as a connector and not a constraint is to have the flexibility to turn the wire on/off during solution resulting in connection turned on/off as needed. However, I get the error shown in the image below when I try to run the solution. The part is dependent and has mesh. The two nodes getting connected belong to two separate disjointed

How to increase stable increment time CEL simulation
I am making a simulation of a molten metal droplet that impacts a substrate. I am using a coupled euelerian lagrangian approach (CEL). My simulation has run for several days but it does not converge. The stable increment time is really really small. I would like to know if there are numerical tools that I can use to having larger stable time increments ? If there is any tool which are the precautions that I should take into account to make a good use of this tool and not take away the physical
Molten metal droplet fragmentation
I am making a simulation of a molten metal droplet that impacts a substrate. I am using a Coupled euelerian lagrangian approach (an eulerian mesh for the droplet and a lagrangian mesh for the substrate). To model the material behaviour I use an equation of state (EOS) and the viscosity of my metal. I have changed several times the size of my eulerian mesh and the volume fraction (for visualization) but my droplet breaks up in multiple pieces. Is ther any numerical hack that I can use for

Dielectric Waveguide: Inaccurate energy balance
Hello all, I face a problem simulating the transition from one dielectric waveguide to another one of the same type but 90 degrees rotated along its axis. My setup is very similar to the "Straight Section" example. The difference is that the cladding in my model is a dielectric in one dimension and vacuum in the other: I get this warnings: and indeed the balance is above 1 leading to unrealistic S-parameters. The same warning appears even in the examples provided in the component library. How

Element removal in Abaqus/Standard → Abaqus/Standard import analysis
In an Abaqus/Standard → Standard import analysis, elements that were removed using MODEL CHANGE, REMOVE in the original analysis become active again after import. If I remove them again in the first step of the import analysis, the initial equilibrium is disturbed due to stress redistribution. My model is built as an assembly of part instances, so I cannot use selective import based on element sets. Is there a workaround to keep these elements inactive in the import analysis without altering the

제조 공정 이력이 부품의 고주기 피로 수명에 미치는 영향

Error message "Failed in mapping the field" when writing input on data that usually works
Hi everyone, I am a bit frustrated. I am doing MI calculations with Abaqus 2025 on a stationary turbine blade. I have done a few of these with the exact same procedure the last weeks and always without problems. As input the static temperature and pressure distributions along the blade airfoil are provided by our aero group based on CFD analysis. The data is provided as an Excel table with XYZ coordinates and field values for pressure and temperature. The CFD mesh is not identical to my Abaqus
SIMULIA Strain Principal Results
Hi community, I am a new user of SIMULIA. For my application, I would like to extract the strain principal results after simulation. Does anyone here knows how I could extract these results. Thank you!
Rough Surface Generator for Abaqus/CAE
Surface interaction is an important topic in engineering, and it is generally recognized that the roughness of a surface has a significant impact on numerous physical phenomena, including contact, wear, friction, and heat transmission. Nonetheless, generating rough surface models with Abaqus/CAE is quite challenging and may necessitate the usage of auxiliary tools. I present a plug-in called RSGen for automatic finite element model generation of rough surfaces in an Abaqus/CAE. RSGen supports

Jorgen Bergström's Three Network Model (TNM aka TN model)
Quote from Jorgen Bergström : User-subroutines were recently published on the SIMULIA Knowledge-Base (QA00000429005) to allow the Abaqus PRF model to replicate Bergström's Three Network Model. Let us call this the "PRF_TNM" model. Abaqus solver 2025 HF1 or later can be used. This post describes how the 3DExperience Material Calibration App can be used to calibrate the PRF_TNM model. I will be showing this with the development version of the app, and this capability will be released as of
How To: Use a Keyword Edit to Enable Element Deletion and Internal Contact
ContextIn SIMULIA on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, certain Abaqus solver keywords are available even if they are not directly exposed through the 3DEXPERIENCE front end. Because the underlying solver is the same, a Keyword Edit can be captured in a script, and then uploaded to add supported Abaqus functionality directly into the input file. This example explains a Keyword Edit used to enable a drilling simulation for manufacturing processes. The edit was used to: Activate element deletion Apply

Simulation failed without Error message
When I run the calculation in the cloud, it fails as shown in the figure below. When I check the Diagnostic Viewer, there are no messages. Since the screen looked like the image below before the error occurred, it appears that the simulation failed to save. Rebar Force (RBFOR) drop in Abaqus explicit
Hi to all I jumped into an issue in Abaqus Explicit and in particular in the very early increments (inflation of tire from standard to explicit). At the initial increment I see that the RBFOR at the center of the ply is around 94.8 N and it’s correct because this value come from the import of the standard 3D (tire inflation). Below the attached viewport the weird thing happen in the next increments. Below there is exactly one increment later. I see that the RBFOR of PLY passed from 94.8 N to
Abaqus script: Graph Extractor Tool
Hi everyone. The last week I was a lot of time extracting the X, Y data from papers graphs. So, to avoid waste more time with this, I just developed this, in my opinion, quite useful plugin for Abaqus. This Plug-in extracts the X, Y data from an image, even if the image is distorted :). You can see a little bit about it in this video. https://youtu.be/OcPJOO1lVD0 If you are interested in the plug-in, don't hesitate to contact me. Have a nice weekend.
CST - How PIC Solver Calculates Normalised Momentum?
Greetings, My question is related to a previous topic you may find here, CST Studio Suite extracts momentum as 'normalised momentum which does not have units'. And it seems the normalised momentum (let us denote as P) is written as, P = beta*gamma = p/(m_0*c) where beta is the velocity and gamma is the Lorentz factor. small `p' is momentum (has dimension), m_0 is mass of electron is c is speed of light. If we consider the P_z component, I would like to know is gamma factor actually gamma_z or

CST - Logging particle ID's to PIC position monitor data
Hello! I am trying to record the exact properties (position, velocity, and macro charge) of every particle that collides with a solid surface in a PIC model, but this diagnostic does not seem to exist in CST (the particle collision thermal loss distribution is insufficient for my application). A rainy day simulation
@RM Not sure if you are looking for something fun to do but I had a pack of gummy bears on my desk that had been sitting in a warm environment. The heat meant that they had started to stick together some so I picked them up and dropped them to knock a few loose. Material hyperelasticity + viscoelasticity, temperature (and time-) dependent cohesive contact, and a dynamic drop event. Perhaps not a holy grail problem, but not a terribly easy one and perhaps a fun way to pass a rainy day 🙂

Recovery of an explicit dynamic analysis using subroutines
I'm running an explicit dynamics analysis that uses a VUAMP subroutine with 4 state variables. It seems like Abaqus does not hang store the state variables, so that when I attempt to use the abaqus recover j=jobname, it doesn't track the same as it would if no interruption had happened. I'm working on writing a file that stores the state variable data and tries to pull it back in, but it seems the recover time stepping is weird. the first step is t=0, then repeats the t= restart request time. Is
May the Force (and CFD) be with you! 🚀✨
Another pure "nerd hobby" project successfully completed. For all the Star Wars fans out there, today's post blends pure nostalgia with cutting-edge engineering. I decided to render and test a classic: the X-34 Landspeeder! While this project was purely for fun, the workflow was serious business. To bring this project to life, I used two fantastic tools: 💥 SOLIDWORKS Visualize for the realistic rendering. 🌀 Fluid Dynamics Engineer (FMK) for the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation.

▶️ Watch now 📢 Explore our full A&D Webinar series - June 2026 CFD technologies based on LBM solve complex flow problems in the defense sector. While many believe LBM tools like SIMULIA's PowerFLOW only handle low-speed flows, we have expanded this technology over the past decade to manage transonic and supersonic flows up to Mach 2. PowerFLOW simulates highly unsteady flows much faster than the competing Navier-Stokes tools. It resolves geometric details critical for flow separations
Remove design points from Results Analytics
Hello SIMULIA Community, I am currently post-processing multiple jobs in the same Results Analytics case (MDO role, 2026x FD02 on-cloud). It looks fine when I add new datasets, but it looks weird when I remove them from Data Sources. I would expect that after removing a dataset, it will be not anymore considered in data analytics, but it is always visible. Question: Is there a way to remove Parameters/Designs when the relevant dataset is removed from Data Sources? Thanks!

Simpack: Recovered points show in Model-Type Flexible Bodies but not in linear Flextrack
Hi, I have generate a railway FE - modell (Rail, Sleeper...) and want to use it as linear Flextrack model. The Model is first imported as linear flexible model, it shows the right Modes and all recovered points. But when it is changed to the typ linear Flextrack, it shows no Modes and in Nodes set, there shows: "node xxx do not provide recovery information. Therefore, these nodes and all referencing faces are skipped. This may result in holes in the surface. Please check your results carefully
Velocity-dependent force in Simpack
Hello, Is there a force element in Simpack that I can define to be as a function of the angular velocity of a body? For context, this would help me to implement dynamic braking for a railway vehicle. Thank you in advance.

CST - Simulating the parasitic capacitance of an inductor
Hello, I am currently trying to estimate the parasitic capacitance of an inductor using the electrostatic solver in CST Studio Suite and compare the simulation result with measurements obtained using an impedance analyzer. For the hardware measurement, I first measured the low-frequency inductance, L, in the frequency range where the inductance remains approximately constant. I then measured the first self-resonant frequency, f_SRF, and the impedance magnitude at that frequency. Assuming a
CST - LF-TD Magnetics Analysis
I am trying to do an analysis in CST Studio Suite using the LF-TD solver. I basically have two outer coils with the current pointed in one direction and an inner coil pointed in the opposite direction. Between the two there is a conductive ring. The inner coil starts at a given current and it driven to zero in 10mS. From this I would like to calculate the eddy currents and the lorentz forces in the metal ring. I am having a couple of issues: I would like to eventually use a cylindrical
CST - Defining a Waveguide Port at the End of a Dual-Ridged Waveguide
Hello, I am currently working on defining a waveguide port at the end of a dual-ridged waveguide with a fully rectangular geometry. However, I am encountering some difficulties because the geometry leads to very small cell sizes and edge-constrained faces, making the meshing process and overall computation quite complex. As a result, I am having trouble defining the waveguide port properly. Could you please advise on the best way to define a waveguide port for this type of structure while

CST - Post processing: Field on face
Hi, Does anyone know if the CST Studio Suite post processing result templates use the global units defined in 'units' under home, or if it converts to standard SI units before doing a process like integrating. This is regarding the H-field on a surface of mm^2, which I am integrating to a flux through the area. Thanks.
Use of Abaqus/CAE connector
Hello everyone, Is anyone actively using the Abaqus/CAE connector? I recently noticed that when opening a model from 3DEXPERIENCE through the Abaqus connector, Abaqus automatically downloads not only the CAE and JNL files but also all associated result files (e.g., ODBs). How do you handle this workflow? Simply download all files (even unnecessary ones), manage the process through manual downloads, or is there is another workaround? Thank you.
