Rebar Force (RBFOR) drop in Abaqus explicit
Hi to all I jumped into an issue in Abaqus Explicit and in particular in the very early increments (inflation of tire from standard to explicit). At the initial increment I see that the RBFOR at the center of the ply is around 94.8 N and it’s correct because this value come from the import of the standard 3D (tire inflation). Below the attached viewport the weird thing happen in the next increments. Below there is exactly one increment later. I see that the RBFOR of PLY passed from 94.8 N to
Abaqus script: Graph Extractor Tool
Hi everyone. The last week I was a lot of time extracting the X, Y data from papers graphs. So, to avoid waste more time with this, I just developed this, in my opinion, quite useful plugin for Abaqus. This Plug-in extracts the X, Y data from an image, even if the image is distorted :). You can see a little bit about it in this video. https://youtu.be/OcPJOO1lVD0 If you are interested in the plug-in, don't hesitate to contact me. Have a nice weekend.

CST - How PIC Solver Calculates Normalised Momentum?
Greetings, My question is related to a previous topic you may find here, CST Studio Suite extracts momentum as 'normalised momentum which does not have units'. And it seems the normalised momentum (let us denote as P) is written as, P = beta*gamma = p/(m_0*c) where beta is the velocity and gamma is the Lorentz factor. small `p' is momentum (has dimension), m_0 is mass of electron is c is speed of light. If we consider the P_z component, I would like to know is gamma factor actually gamma_z or

CST - Logging particle ID's to PIC position monitor data
Hello! I am trying to record the exact properties (position, velocity, and macro charge) of every particle that collides with a solid surface in a PIC model, but this diagnostic does not seem to exist in CST (the particle collision thermal loss distribution is insufficient for my application). As a workaround, I am now directly reading the .bix files output by a position monitor to estimate which particles are colliding with the surface, and I would like to do this by checking whether each

A rainy day simulation
@RM Not sure if you are looking for something fun to do but I had a pack of gummy bears on my desk that had been sitting in a warm environment. The heat meant that they had started to stick together some so I picked them up and dropped them to knock a few loose. Material hyperelasticity + viscoelasticity, temperature (and time-) dependent cohesive contact, and a dynamic drop event. Perhaps not a holy grail problem, but not a terribly easy one and perhaps a fun way to pass a rainy day 🙂

Recovery of an explicit dynamic analysis using subroutines
I'm running an explicit dynamics analysis that uses a VUAMP subroutine with 4 state variables. It seems like Abaqus does not hang store the state variables, so that when I attempt to use the abaqus recover j=jobname, it doesn't track the same as it would if no interruption had happened. I'm working on writing a file that stores the state variable data and tries to pull it back in, but it seems the recover time stepping is weird. the first step is t=0, then repeats the t= restart request time. Is

Remove design points from Results Analytics
Hello SIMULIA Community, I am currently post-processing multiple jobs in the same Results Analytics case (MDO role, 2026x FD02 on-cloud). It looks fine when I add new datasets, but it looks weird when I remove them from Data Sources. I would expect that after removing a dataset, it will be not anymore considered in data analytics, but it is always visible. Question: Is there a way to remove Parameters/Designs when the relevant dataset is removed from Data Sources? Thanks!

CST - Simulating the parasitic capacitance of an inductor
Hello, I am currently trying to estimate the parasitic capacitance of an inductor using the electrostatic solver in CST Studio Suite and compare the simulation result with measurements obtained using an impedance analyzer. For the hardware measurement, I first measured the low-frequency inductance, L, in the frequency range where the inductance remains approximately constant. I then measured the first self-resonant frequency, f_SRF, and the impedance magnitude at that frequency. Assuming a
CST - LF-TD Magnetics Analysis
I am trying to do an analysis in CST Studio Suite using the LF-TD solver. I basically have two outer coils with the current pointed in one direction and an inner coil pointed in the opposite direction. Between the two there is a conductive ring. The inner coil starts at a given current and it driven to zero in 10mS. From this I would like to calculate the eddy currents and the lorentz forces in the metal ring. I am having a couple of issues: I would like to eventually use a cylindrical

Use of Abaqus/CAE connector
Hello everyone, Is anyone actively using the Abaqus/CAE connector? I recently noticed that when opening a model from 3DEXPERIENCE through the Abaqus connector, Abaqus automatically downloads not only the CAE and JNL files but also all associated result files (e.g., ODBs). How do you handle this workflow? Simply download all files (even unnecessary ones), manage the process through manual downloads, or is there is another workaround? Thank you.

Time-Temperature Superposition (TTS), TRS, WLF
Category: Thermo-Mechanical Material Modeling The picture shown above is from a classic simulation of oblique impact of a copper rod. This is a really interesting thermo-mechanical analysis where the impact event generates a lot of heat, and the heat in turn softens the mechanical properties. There are also other classes of problems where friction can generate heat and in turn the heat changes the material properties. There are already good resources (Example problem manual, training

Problem with contact property
I am working on a 2D implicit model where I tied two different parts. A portion of the interface between two parts kept untied. In this portion, I defined cohesive interaction between two surface for step-1, which acts similar to 'Tie', and deactivated that for step-2. The red and green zone of the figure are in compression and leads to overlapping at step-2. I decided to define a contact(surface to surface) property. So I created an interaction property with normal behavior 'Linear'. Then it
XFEM Crack Tip Location
I am currently looking into XFEM within Abaqus CAE. I am trying to make sense of how the software decides on the number of XFEM points that the model will use, specifically in embedded cracks. Within the .dat file that Abaqus outputs, for the crack tip location, for through thickness cracks it seems to create an XFEM point for the crack tip location for each element that exists through the thickness, that the crack crosses, but for embedded cracks I can’t seem to find any correlation.
