Help for COHESIVE element implementation
Hello everyone , I am new to this community , but hope I could get some help on this project , as I have had a persistent error in my attempt to implement a cohesive element trough inp file generation. In my main project , I am trying to model the fiber and matrix interaction trough a cohesive layer , that having to "coat " a complex geometry of a fiber needs to be generated trough code in the form of an inp file to fit the shape. To debug this feature , I tried implementing it in a simple

What kind of error is showing when trying for stress mapping?
I am currently working on transferring results from one Abaqus simulation into a subsequent analysis. While attempting this, I encountered some errors that I am having difficulty interpreting. From my attempts so far, stress mapping works correctly when the source results are from a purely elastic simulation. However, when I try to map results from an elasto-plastic simulation, the process does not work as expected and instead generates errors. Based on your experience, could you please advise

Clarification on Internal Degrees of Freedom in .mtx File for C3D10H Elements
I am writing to seek clarification regarding the stiffness matrix output when using the *MATRIX GENERATE, STIFFNESS and *MATRIX OUTPUT, STIFFNESS, FORMAT=COORDINATE options. When using S4R element model, the matrix size is equal to: number of nodes×6, and the numbering of the matrix entries corresponds directly to the node numbering. For example, for node 1, the matrix represents its six degrees of freedom as DOFs 1–6. However, when switching to a C3D10H element hyperelastic model, I notice that
Defining temperature-dependent plasticity properties/behaviour
I am struggling to define the temperature-dependent properties required to model the plasticity transition for carbon steel at elevated temperatures due to the limitations of the input parameters being in a two-dimensional tabular format. How to obtain global nodal coordinates from Abaqus .inp file?
Hi all, I need to use the global nodal coordinates of my mesh for preprocessing, but I am confused about what is actually written in the .inp file. For dependent mesh, the *Node data appear directly under *Part. For independent mesh, the *Node data appear under *Instance after two lines of transformation information. My question is: In these two cases, are the *Node coordinates written in the inp file already global, or are they still local coordinates of the part that always need to be

Conforming mesh connection
Good morning, I have just started using Abaqus Simulia a few days ago and I would like some clarification/suggestions regarding the creation of the mesh. I need to analyze a set of structures connected to each other but with different mechanical properties, so I imported all the solids as separate parts. What is the best way to mesh all the elements and ensure that the meshes of adjacent structures share common nodes? Is there a specific command or procedure to follow? Thank you.

On Demand Tech Talk | Pulsed Measurements on Radio Frequency Transistor using SIMULIA IVCAD Suite 4.0
▶️If you'd prefer to watch the video in the community, you can view it here Abstract Pulsed (IV) measurements play a crucial role in understanding the interaction of input and output currents and voltages in a transistor. For GaN field-effect transistors (FETs), this involves measuring the output current as a function of varying input voltages in quasi-isothermal conditions. Due to their high-power delivery capacity, GaN devices are prone to self-heating and trapping effects, making

Defining Temperature on selected nodes in later steps?
Hi, I am trying to simulate a transient thermomechanical model of a roller test rig to get heat generation and stress analysis caused by load, slip and friction coefficient. Model consists of 2 rollers- Hollow Roller and Counter Roller. Load is applied to Counter Roller. I have defined 4 steps- loading of counter roller, acceleration of both rollers to their respective velocities, Rolling of both rollers at their achieved velocity and braking of counter roller. I am using Coupled

Overlay Plot coordinate system of substructure odb files
In Abaqus/CAE 2022, I have ran a substructure analysis and have the odb files loaded into an Overlay Plot. The coordinate system of the instances are changed to some isometric from orthogonal to the global coordinate system. However, when I combine the odb files, the resultant positioning of the instances are back into their orthogonal assembly coordinate system. I can't find a way to get the coordinate system position of the instances aligned back to the assembly placement when using an Overlay

J-integral for anisotropic materials
Hello, After some days intensively searching the ABAQUS doc, we found that, ABAQUS doc states that: Mention 1 ' Abaqus/Standard provides an interaction integral method to compute the stress intensity factors directly for a crack under mixed-mode loading. This capability is available for linear isotropic and anisotropic materials. ' Reference: Abaqus > Analysis > Analysis Techniques > Special-Purpose Techniques > Fracture Mechanics > Contour Integral Evaluation Mention 2: ' The
Can a contour integral analysis be used for Composites?
Hello, When I use contour integral technique in ABAQUS to determine the 'Stress intensity factor' and 'Energy Release Rate' , I get good convergence in my results (what ABAQUS doc calls 'Domain independency') - that is, no fluctuation in the results from one contour to the other. But, when I use the contour integral technique for composites, my SIF and ERR results keep fluctuating with contours (contour dependency). The question is simple. Can the contour integral technique in ABAQUS be

ABAQUS Predefined Field and Its Visualization
Hello everyone! I would like to ask if anyone experienced in defining and visualizing Predefined Field in Abaqus CAE. I have referred to a file consisting X, Y, Z, and pore pressure values using Direct Specification distribution. After running the Job, on the Field Output Dialog I chose Primary - PORPRES. However the visualization couldn't represent the data at all as shown in the figure below. Anyone could help me to spot the possible missing step here? Thank you so much in advance!
Plastic part mesh is not contiguous
injection molding plastic injection Hi all, I am wondering why I get this error, my plastic part is the one colored in blue, while the orange colored part just the insert. Wondering is it because the blue part is not connected? However, we are planning to making two part in one more with runner system connects them. Currently we just try to run flow simulation with the gates. Best, Jerome.
Specify injection location
plastic injection injection molding Hi all, I am wonder how to specify the injection location at the point modelled. The support from the tap give me some trouble. Best, Jerome.

Setting the Strain Range for Young’s Modulus Evaluation in the Material Calibration App
I just started using the Material Calibration App and would like to use it to characterize a transversely isotropic material model. For an initial test, I only loaded the data for the first fiber direction. My question is: Is it possible to define the strain range within which the Young’s modulus is determined? According to the relevant DIN standard, the Young’s modulus of fiber-reinforced composites is evaluated in the strain range from 0.05% to 0.25%. Do I need to implement this by importing

Contact Warning – Facets facing wrong direction (Push-out test model)
Hello everyoneAbaqusAbaqus CAE I am currently working on a numerical model in Abaqus to simulate push-out tests for a new steel–timber–concrete composite joint. When running my analysis, I receive the following warning: “There are 2 facets that are found to be facing in the wrong direction with respect to the main surface for the contact pair(CLT–concrete interface). Please check the orientation of the surfaces relative to each other.” This occurs specifically at the contact between the CLT

Ratcheting Phenomenon under Cyclic Loading in Abaqus
In this work, the behavior of a plate under cyclic loading was simulated using Abaqus. Two hardening mechanisms were considered: Isotropic hardening → leads to expansion or contraction of the yield surface (change in size). Kinematic hardening → causes translation of the yield surface in stress space (change in position). The main objective was to investigate the ratcheting phenomenon, which represents the progressive accumulation of plastic strain under cyclic loading.
Restart Option
I’m running an implicit dynamic analysis where I enable the Restart option. How are the saving frequencies of the field output, history output, and restart affected? For example, if I set the output frequency to every 100 increments and the restart frequency to every 50 increments, and my simulation reaches 175 increments, then I will have the field output saved up to 100 increments, while the restart is saved up to 150. If I want to restart the analysis, can I start from 150 or do I need to
