Abstract:
As product complexity continues to accelerate, traditional CAD approaches based on sketch-and-extrude operations have reached their limitations for certain advanced components. These sophisticated geometries now demand algorithmic solutions capable of generating outputs that precisely meet complex engineering requirements. While there are certain solutions like Abaqus/CAE which offers Python scripting capabilities for creating geometries and simulation studies, this approach requires engineers to possess some skills in programming and scripting itself.
Visual scripting tools fundamentally transform this paradigm by providing more intuitive interface with a significantly gentler learning curve. This democratisation of advanced CAD and simulation capabilities enables a broader range of engineering professionals to leverage powerful computational tools without extensive programming expertise. Furthermore, the integration of visual scripting with simulation apps and automated workflows on the 3DExperience platform represents a fundamental redesign of engineering methodologies.
The presentation will include practical examples demonstrating how visual scripting reduces model preparation time by eliminating repetitive CAD operations, direct control of complex geometry features and automated mesh regeneration. Attendees will see demonstrations of specific use cases where visual scripting allowed non-programmers to create complex parametric models and execute simulation studies that previously required specialized coding expertise.
