I would like to model 2 superconducting electromagnetic coils separated by 1mm of air or vacuum. No steel core that would limit the magnetic field. I would like to monitor the magnetic fields in the coils by sending current pulses through the charging coil.
I've been told to use Abaqus, CST Studio Suite , or Simulia. I have the learning edition of CST Studio Suite. However, I don't think it will allow me to do anything more than define current flowing through a PEC (perfect electrical conductor) coil. CST Studio will allow me to see the magnetic field; but it won't allow pulses to be input to the charge coil.
I've used SolidWorks Makers Edition to create a drawing of the 2 coils separated by 1mm.
I also have Abaqus Learning Edition. I don't think Abaqus, at least the learning edition, is capable either. I created a coil using Abaqus. It doesn't allow me to add a material for the coil windings. I don't see any way of defining the number of turns in the winding either.
Does anyone know how I can get this simulation set up and working?
Thanks,
John
