DELMIA Fabrication
How to program on any native CAD with DELMIA Machining ? For instance CATIA V5
In the 3DEXPERIENCE, you have 2 possibilities to work with CATIA V5 CAD: 1/ you can import the CAD in the platform (it is not the target of this wiki) In this case the CAD is “duplicated” and you program on the 3DEXPERIENCE CAD 2/ you can connect CATIA V5 to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform via a connector (collaborative design for CATIA V5 role in the ENOVIA portfolio) In this case you use the CATIA V5 CAD in the 3DEXPERIENCE the data is unique , there is NO duplication

Generic Post Processor for AMD?
Good morning, I've been preparing for the AMD enhancement with the generic post processor, and it seems that the generic post is only generating G0 moves. No G1 moves nor E moves for extrusion are being generated. I have double checked that the post is assigned correctly. Am I missing something? 3DXML is attached.

Use CNC wood router for machine
Hi, I am new to 2DEXPERIENCE and Delmia Factory Floor Machining. I come from a long (>40 years) Autocad backround with some 3D (Fusion). I have successfully imported a 3D model of a CNC router now I am having a difficult time figuring out how to show the CNC router model in the same Machining Cell that I have imported the part that I want to machine. For reference, I can very simply using another CAM package, place my work on the router model and run a simulation. How do I do this in FFM?
Machining with Robot - Fixed TCP
DELMIA Machining offers CAM-Programmers the possibility to use robots instead of CNC machines for machining processes without having to adapt to a different software. However there are differences in the way robots and CNC machines are operated and this is reflected in DELMIA Machining as well. The scenario covered in this tutorial shows how to program a robot with Fanuc controller (in fixed TCP mode) using DELMIA Machining. Introduction This scenario was originally concieved for the Innoteq

What is the impact of the RTCP parameters in the machine definition ? ( Machine simulation _ PPtable _ APTfile )
When you define a 5 axis milling machine you can set two RTCP parameters in the “Numerical Control” section (via: “NC Resources/Modify Nc Resources”) RTCP Support Default Mode ON at operation creation (if the previous RTCP Support is activated) Default is OFF Theses parameters impact the machine toolpath simulation and also the APTfile output. I propose in the following pdf to summarize the behavior and the impact. and also two short videos with and vithout RTCP during the transition path
machine simulation
In 3+2 axis machining, machines often move to predefined safety positions before the rotary axes rotate. These positions are usually inserted automatically into the NC program by the postprocessor (PP). It would be desirable to define these safety positions on a Machine so that they are automatically approached in the Delmia machine simulation before each axis rotation. New idea?

Visualization of NC elements
Hello everyone, In machining, is there an option or trick to lock the toolbar that shows or hides the different elements (tools, machine, etc.)? When you want to make several elements visible or hide them, you are obligated to display the selection bar every time. It's not essential, but it's a bit frustrating on a daily basis.

NC Data lost with a click of a button
Hi, I am familiar with at least 2 cases where the user mistakenly clicks on a command that causes data loss without a way to recover it. "Remove Machine and its programming" "Isolate machining links" Is there a way to recover the data (that I am not familiar with)? I suggest adding some notification (raise a question/confirmation) before the system executes these. Need to consider that these commands are located in commonly used areas and according to our experience, users occasionally

Thread Milling is undesize
I am trying to mill M5 x 0.8 internal threads. To get the threads large enough to pass a M5 bolt, I have to set the diameter to 7.0 mm. It is possible I have something in the tool geometry wrong. The tool is a single edge (as opposed to a comb type) cutter with 4mm cutting diameter and a 2.9mm shank relief. Below is the geometry I have set. Here are the cutting parameters I had to use to get the diameter correct. I am not sure why I need to enter 7mm. The best idea I have is that the entry

Suggestion for NC output panel
It would be really handy to have a "Go to folder" button somewhere in this panel so you can click it and go to the folder where the output was saved. When someone (like me) has an "I forgot to set [whatever parameter]" and need to quickly repost and send the code, that button would save drilling down in Windows Explorer several times and about a gazillion extra clicks. Just a thought.
Copies of part in Shop Floor Programmer
Is there any way to make a copy of a part instead of instantiating it in Solidworks and bringing in a multi-body part? I have a bracket that I need to make multiples of and nest them into a single piece of stock, and it would seem there may be a way to do this in the CAM part instead of making a separate model just for machining. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Preferred position and change of rotary axis configuration
Hi community, When creating a machine, you can set the priority of the rotary axes (e.g., Default, Minus, or Plus). This option is very convenient, but it would be much more interesting to be able to insert the option to position the machine in Minus or Plus before machining operation, depending on machining or collision requirements. Normally, an APT word is inserted (e.g., MODE/BAXIS,PLUS or MODE/BAXIS,MINUS, or to manage the C-axis singularity, ROTATE/CAXIS,ON,180...) and the PostProcessor

tool support for sweeping operations
Hello; One of our customers makes molding dies. -We previously used CATIA V5 and solved this issue in CATIA V5 by using user representation. Now, what I want to ask is that we want to do this without using representation in V6 because it is a special tool and we cannot download it from any site. My suggestion is to add a T-slot to the sweeping operation and provide a chamfer support to sharpen the tool's lower edge and upper edge. @NY @NK @EK @AC

Customize Configuration View & Compensation Table Tools
Hello, I need to check local parameters link to use tools, in configuration view. We have no access to compensation parameters. I know we have them with activities tree, but it's less usefull. another topic: by default, when we load/replace tool assembly , access to compensation table is activated and number are equal to 1. It can be an issue when we need to manage tool compensation (Lenght & Radius). No setting is linked to this behavior.

W-Axis Drilling in Machine Simulation
Hello, I am working with a horizontal machine that has collinear axes. The setup is: Base kinematics: Horizontal Machining Center(HMC) with XYZCA 5-axis + W-axis + V-Axis W (quill) mounted on A, carrying the spindle. W-axis is collinear to Tool-Axis and so is V-Axis V (shroud with dust collector) also mounted on A, moving independently Typical sequence: machine positions with 5-axis, V moves down to touch the part, then W drills. My question: Does 3DEXPERIENCE currently support this type of
[3DX Coding] Sample code to generate Apt source
Hello to the whole community. Could someone provide me a sample code to generate the apt source of a manufacturing program in 3D experience please, considering that I retrieved the manufacturing program (in Vb, C or C++). In V5 I don't have a problem but in 3D experience (20X), when I use the "initFileGenerator" function, I have a crash when I generate an apt for the second time (it looks like a stream remains open). I then have to generate the apt in 3dx and it works again for once in my
Facing
Hello, I am looking for a solution to a problem that occurs during face milling with an insert-type cutter. A tool of this design cannot enter the material with a vertical plunge movement, because this causes collisions between the cutter body (where there are no cutting inserts) and the workpiece material. Despite enabling the collision avoidance option, toolpaths are still generated with colliding movements. I would expect the toolpaths to be trimmed and arranged in such a way that machining
Reappearing Stock Model
If I model the raw stock in Solidworks and import it as part of the assembly, then make copies of the assembly for further ops, every time I switch to a different op, or to the tree, or back to the activities view, that solid unhides itself in each copy of the NC assembly. Is there any way to convince these solids to stay hidden unless I, as the user, unhide them? Many thanks.
Maker Version: Single Flute Thread Mill
How would I go about creating this tool as a resource. When I worked on CATIA, I could just make a sketch which CATIA would revolve for me. I can't seem to find that option in Shop Floor Machining.

Is there any dedicated knurling cycle/operation in CATIA V5 or 3DEXPERIENCE?
Hello Everyone, I have a query regarding knurling operations in 3DEXPERIENCE DELMIA Machining and CATIA V5 CAM Machining. Since knurling is a forming process (not cutting), I couldn’t find a direct knurling operation option in DELMIA Machining apps or in CATIA V5 Machining. My questions is: Is there any dedicated knurling cycle/operation in CATIA V5 or 3DEXPERIENCE? If not, what is the best practice to represent knurling in the CAM process plan / NC program? Machining Wizard Disappears. How to re-enable it?
When I click "switch to edit mode" on a part, the machining wizard goes away and I am unable to re-enable it. Even if the close the current manufacturing cell and create a new one, the wizard is no longer accessible. Please advise on how to re-enable the wizard (I assume this would be exiting edit mode??) without having to close and restart the app. "Switch to edit mode" Wizard is gone.
What is required to do during this step of the wizard?

Correct Large Angular Variation
One common problem in five axis machining is that in some cases it´s not possible to drive the tool along the programmed trajectory without changing the machine configuration along the toolpath. Usually this causes a large angular variation in one of the rotational axes of the machine. These movements can cause damage to the part and/or machine if not detected and corrected. This page aims to explain how DELMIA Machining can help to detect and avoid this kind of issue. Scenario: In this example

How to assign/mount accessories and tools on rotary turret to define initialize a manufacturing cell ?
After exchange with @LL I created this wiki to share the methodology. A/ Create the "Initial Manufacturing Cell" Today there is 3 ways to assign/mount accessories and tools on a rotary turret. 1/ Using import and mount resources command (accessories + cutting tools) 2/ Using the resources view if components are already in the manufacturing cell (accessories + cutting tools) Method 1 and 2 are described in the document and recorded 3 / While creating machining operations with cutting tools This
Resources definition : Which ports for which resources ? (summary)
According the resources type, you have to define Mandatory ports (optional also possible), I propose in this document to summarize which one according the resources
No Cutter Comp In APT or NC Code
Pretext: I am on the maker version of Shop Floor Programmer. I am having a heck of a time figuring out how to get G41/G42 into the gcode. I have tried all the combinations of radial, tip, etc. when setting up the machining operation. I have also checked that there is a "P" value set in the tool. I have ensured it is turned on and set properly in ICAM Foundation. However, I just can't get it to put CUTCOM/LEFT (or /RIGHT) in the APT code, so of course, ICAM doesn't output the proper gcodes. I
GPU for CAM Simulation
Hello! I have a question about my laptop GPU... "NVIDIA RTX 2000 Ada Generation Laptop GPU". I'm not satisfied with the CAM simulation with my 3Dexperience trial version. Do you think the card is sufficient or should I change it? In Catia V5 it worked fine... Thank you!
NSR-OC DELMIA report / work instructions export
Hi all, I have a prospect interested in the NC Shop Floor Programmer role (NSR-OC), which is included in SW2-OC and other SOLIDWORKS packages. Does this role allow users to export a report (like a PDF document) based on the CAM setup with shop floor instructions such as tool usage per step, material information, machining time, operation sequence, etc.? Thanks,

How assign “static” tool assembly and uses it as Fixed or powered on lathe turret ?
I capitalize a tip / methodo after a question from @LL about the vizualisation of milling and drilling tool assemblies when you assign its on a lathe turret (by default Laurent expect "static" tool assemblies as it is in the shopfloor => virtual twin)
[20X scripting] Read Manufacturing Operations in 3d experience in vb
Hello, in 3D Experience, I can't read in the part operation, the manufacturing program, and the machining operations. I can read the products and tools with "plmproductservice," but when I loop through all the "items" in the productservice (RootOccurence.Occurence), I can't find the manufacturing part or manufacturing program (workbench = prismatic machining) Which service should I use to read the machining operations? Does anyone has a sample of code (in the 3dX automation help there is not
Simulation unable to virtual twin process for 4th axis machining and vise/table machining on table in the same program
I'm working with my VAR, but I'd like to leverage the power of this community to hopefully gain some insight. I have a very common process that we do: machining on the 4th axis rotary, then an additional set-up in a vise on the same table, in the same program. If I do all of the work on the rotary and then add the vise set up as a "SET-UP", then the vise part will move with the indexing of the rotary, even though it is mounted to the machine. Weird, why does it ignore the mounting hierarchy
