EOS

In this section, you will find everything necessary to connect EOS printers & software to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

What to experience inside our apps with this collaboration ?

  • To switch seamlessly from design parts for AM to programming print on EOS virtual twin machine.
    • Productive workflow: Seamless CAD to PRINT workflow in one single software tool.
    • Associative Workflows: Less rework costs after changes – no need to re-assign Exposure Sets after part changes.
  • To assign EOS Material Sets & Exposure Sets on part for trajectory computation.
  • To display EOS trajectories and to parse the whole build job across layers and time.
  • To generate task file for the printer.

Prerequisite

  • To have EOSprint version corresponding to the requirements of your printer.
    • Purpose: To be able to define process parameters.

Procedure

This video guides you from verifying model consistency to generating a task file for a specific printer.
To be noticed, workflow is the same for all published models.

1/ To launch 3DEXPERIENCE.
2/ To download your Additive Machine model then to import the 3DXML file into 3DEXPERIENCE.
3/ To start your Additive application.
4/ To open "Search Machine" command then to pick the uploaded model.
5/ To open PLM tree and to left-click on it. To click on "edit machine" button from the bubble bar. Or, you can right-click on it then inside the contextual menu, go to Additive Machine then click on Edit NC Resource
6/ To check that "MachineName", "MaterialFolder" & "NetworkAdress" custom parameters are defined.
MaterialFolder parameter must point to the EOS directory containing all exported MaterialSets (with an absolute path, e.g.  \\\\YourMachine\\Documents\\EOS\\MaterialSets\\M400\\).

NetworkAdress parameter must be equal to the value given by EOS VM and located under Settings -> Communication -> IP Address

7/ To open "Virtual Machine" expander, to click on "Check library load":

To verify that following services are checked: "Get list of available rules" ; "Create jobfile from geometry" ; "Get Settings"

8/ To open "Rules" expander, to click on "Update list of rules". To check that Rules are added under both "Build process" & "Scan path" nodes

9/ To prepare the build...

... Once you are about to define scanning strategy:
10/ To open "Generate output" command then to check that "eos" option appears inside the "Format" dropdown list.
11/ To click on "Build strategy" button.
12/ To pick one from dropdown list next to Build process rule and to define Scan path rule on all regions.
            To validate assignment.
13/ To click on Generate.
14/ To open "Display scan path" command to review the trajectories coming from EOS APIs.
15/ To open generated eos file in EOSprint.
15/ To review task file then send it for manufacturing.

About AM models versioning

These models were created from a specific 3DEXPERIENCE Platform version and are compatible with later releases.
Make sure to download the model matching your configuration.

External parameters

All the knowledge coming from EOSprint - Exposure Sets & Materials Sets - is imported as "build process" & "scan path" rule in the 3DEXPERIENCE. It means that you must first define the process parameters in EOSprint and export it to the directory folder - the one pointed by MaterialFolder cf. above procedure.

The "Generate output" command allows you to use both Exposure & Materials Sets parameters by assigning their associated "build process" & "scan path" rules on parts and supports.
