AddUp

In this section, you will find everything necessary to connect AddUp printers & software to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

What to experience inside our apps with this collaboration ?

  • To switch seamlessly from design parts for AM to simulating print on AddUp virtual twin machine.
  • To use AddUp printing parameters for trajectories computation.
  • To display AddUp trajectories and to parse the whole build job across layers and time.
  • To generate job file for the printer.

Prerequisite

AddUp NTwin For 3DX v8.12
AddUp NTwin for 3DX v8.12
  • To install AddUp NTwin for 3DX from this link:
    • Purpose: it grants interoperability between the 3DExperience and AddUp machines: when AddUp additive model needs AddUp functionalities, it interacts with AddUp NTwin for 3DX.
  • To request a licence for AddUp NTwin for 3DX from AddUp NTwin License Manager

Procedure

This video guides you from verifying model consistency to generating job file for your FormUp printer.
To be noticed, workflow is the same for all published models.

1/ To launch 3DEXPERIENCE.
2/ To download your Additive Machine model then to import the 3DXML file into 3DEXPERIENCE.
3/ To start your Additive application.
4/ To open "Search Machine" command then to pick the uploaded model.
5/ To open PLM tree and to left-click on it. To click on "edit machine" button from the bubble bar. Or, you can right-click on it then inside the contextual menu, go to Additive Machine then click on Edit NC Resource
6/ To check that "AddUp_TemplateFileName" custom parameter is defined:
AddUp_TemplateFileName parameter must point to the template.addproj file and blank spaces inside the filename are not supported.

7/ To open "Virtual Machine" expander, to click on "Check library load":

To verify that following services are checked: "Get list of available rules" ; "Create jobfile from geometry" ; "Get Settings"

8/ To open "Rules" expander, to click on "Update list of rules". To check that Rules are added under both "Build process" & "Scan path" nodes

9/ To prepare the build...

... Once you are about to define scanning strategy:
10/ To open "Generate output" command then to check that "addproj" option appears inside the "Format" dropdown list.
11/ To click on "Build strategy" button.
12/ To pick one from dropdown list next to Build process rule and to define Scan path rule on all regions.
            To validate assignment.
13/ To click on Generate.
14/ To open "Display scan path" command to review the trajectories coming from AddUp APIs.
15/ To open generated addproj file in AddUp Manager.
16/ To review job file then to send it for manufacturing.

About AM models versioning

These models were created from a specific 3DEXPERIENCE Platform version and are compatible with later releases.
Make sure to download the model matching your configuration.

External parameters

All the knowledge coming from AddUp Manager - Template and scanning strategies associated to it - is imported as "build process: & "scan path" rules in the 3DEXPERIENCE. It means that you must first define Template and export it to the directory folder - the one pointed by AddUp_TemplateFileName cf. above procedure.

The "Generate output" command allows you to use these Template parameters by assigning their associated "build process" & "scan path" rules on parts and supports.
