I want to make a macro that when I select a cell in the BOM table that is in PARTS ONLY mode, and run the macro, the part will open as it was last saved. Does anyone have such a macro? I tried several attempts and did not get the correct result. Thanks to those who responded.

When I press ctrl+S to save file, and if file is read only, it will show popup message. I dismiss the message immediately by pressing ESC. However there is second message trying to show "save as..." window. Continous pressing esc crashes the program.

I had been using spelling check in Solidworks drawing. However, recently, I couldn't use it anymore. Every time when I tried to use it by pressing F7, it showed "Type Mismatch". I have tried to reset the setting. I also ensured the dictionary is using swengineering.dic, and added the location folder of this file in the spelling folder through Optional. However, nothing helped. Did anyone encounter similar situation before and know how to fix it? Please land a hand! Thank you very much!

A subcontractor sent a large assembly file that was created in Libre3D. He sent them both as single .step file ( and as a single .x_t file. I've tried opening both (separately) in SolidWorks Premium 2025 SP3.0. The .x_t files seem closer to working (it opens an entire tree which can be viewed in the Feature Tree, components hidden and shown, etc). When I go to save this assembly file, it saves most (if not all) of the components and subassemblies, but does not save the top-level assembly file.

Hello, I am a little desparate. I askes google and KI but didn't find a solution. I also did a reset to default settings (within the software and via registry). I can't Copy and Paste either manually or with the hotkeys. Nothing within sketches nor notes in drawings. I can copy from editor/wort into a note for example but not anything within solidworks. As of today, Solidworks is not rendering Planes or Sketches unless I hover over them an select them. When Show is selected on a Plane, it will show the plane in a different color and without a border. Sketches will not show unless I select the line in the model, which is challenging since I cant see the sketch. All models are also allowing direct editing without using the Direct Editing tools. I am creating assemblies for a customer that has many of their parts created as length configurations of various profiles. Think of it 2x4s, 2x6s and 4x4s that have certain lengths (2', 4', 5', etc.) called out. Hi All, I performed the surface flattening and plotted the deformation for the same double curved surface in Solidworks, NX and FreeCAD. All three give a different result for the deformations and boundary layout. So I am wondering which flattening algorithm is used in SolidWorks? Is it an LSCM? My default settings have this terrible behavior where coincident endpoints in sketches get this kind of implicit, invisible coincident constraint. My previously installed version of Solidworks Connected started crashing. I uninstalled everything and went to do a fresh install. The Launcher installs properly. I then go to the cloud and install Design 2026. It installs something (not full program). When I try and run the icon it installed, or open from the cloud, it launches the Installation Manager which just has a blank window. I have tried everything advised via AI and cant get it to work. After importing a set of surfaces into SolidWorks, I am attempting to knit those surfaces in order to convert it into a solid. SolidWorks give an error message that one of the surfaces in non-manifold. Is there a way to get SolidWorks to identify the surface or surfaces that are non-manifold so that I can repair them manually? Even after repairing invalid faces and geometries with evaluate>check, there are still non-manifold surfaces. Any suggestions?

Hi! This might be a pretty basic question, but here it goes: I have an assembly of a leg of a chair, and its constructed by 3 sheet metal parts. How can I make drawings of the parts in unfolded state? This was pretty straightforward when I was making a similar structure as a multibody part (Select drawing view ->Select bodies in property manager -> tick "Flat pattern" in the orientation), but I cant find the solution to how to do it when the different parts are a part of an assembly. Hi all, so I work with a script that exports several 2d-curves in one .ibl-file. Its quite similar to .dat files in the sense that three rows contain x-, y-, and z-coordinates. However it differs in the way that it contains multiple 2d geometries, divided by a column with the command 'begin curve ! 2'. As far as I know, Creo can open this file.
