Hello everyone!
This series of tutorials will teach you how to set up a simulation in ExSight. We will be considering an example of a rubber mount to demonstrate the various features of ExSight and V6.
Problem statement
A rubber mount is bonded at both ends to steel plates. It will experience axial loads up to 5.5 kN distributed uniformly across the plates. Find the axial stiffness of the mount. We will be considering 1/8 of the original model for the tutorials.
Objectives
At the end of the tutorial series, you will be able to
- Create a simulation and submit a job for analysis
- View and postprocess the results
Note: Instructions on how to create geometry and assemblies in V6 will not be provided. The following list of tutorials will explain the various steps involved in creating an ExSight simulation.

Important
By default, when you create a PLM object, V6 will assign a randomly generated name to it and will navigate you to the default workbench that is associated with the PLM object.
For instance, when you create a 3D part, V6 will assign a name (say, Product1349) and will navigate you to the Part Design workbench.
The following instructions will allow you to set the properties for all PLM objects at the beginning.
1. From the main menu, select PLM Access > New
2. In the New dialog box,
a. Right-click the Tools icon.
b. Select Set attributes at creation for all types.
You can close the New dialog box if you do not want to create a PLM object from the menu. The settings will remain activated till you reset your CATSettings.
For example, when you create a 3D part after activating this option, you will see the following dialog box which will allow you to enter the name of the 3D part and the 3D shape representation at the time of creation.
