Completing an Agile Iteration With Open Tasks

Why

Improve Agile project management by alerting on incomplete items

How

  • A new dialog is introduced when completing an iteration that contains open tasks.

  • The dialog alerts you about any pending work, and asks you about what do you want to do with the incomplete tasks:

    • Move the incomplete tasks to the backlog

    • Move the incomplete tasks to the next iteration

  • In the case of 5 or fewer open tasks, the dialog lists all individual tasks, and allows you to choose what to do with each task.

Displaying the Story Points Burn Down Chart in Summary View

Why

Improved analysis of work progress by displaying the story tasks burn down chart in the project summary view

How

  • The Burn Down chart is enhanced for Iteration projects, and now it shows the number of story points over the duration of the iteration.

  • Two lines are displayed:

    • Actual line (blue):
Each point on the actual line represents the time (on the X axis) a story task was closed.
The story points value (on the Y axis) is the remaining story points in all uncompleted tasks.

    • Ideal line (grey) represents a quick visual cue to determine how progress is proceeding.

  • If the actual line is above the ideal line, it is behind schedule. If the actual line is below the ideal line, it is ahead of schedule.
