Question

Answer

Does the Default Impact Analysis metrics can by changed or adjust based on business needs?

Yes, the default are just basic and can be hidden and the attributes can be customized as per the business needs.

Do we need CHG to create change request for the governed implementation?

No, a user with Collaborative Industry Innovator (CSV) can create change requests.  However, a change coordinator is required for the orchestration of impact analysis

Do we have any cap to define a change request / order as a template with multiple impact analysis ? just like word template to let user put attribute value in the right place (like issue template), any   link to a wiki or best in class ? thanks

The templates for Changes can very easily increase over time to handle all the various combinations and the problem then becomes picking the right template efficiently. So for this reason, we do not have Templates on Changes but we can use Duplicate capability that allows to replicate the definition as required.

Customizing Impacts metrics is possible on Cloud?

Yes, should be possible from the Attribute customization from Control Center.

What is your recommended methodology for using change requests across many different departments?

ie Structures, Electrical, Systems, and others, do you recommend a single Change request, or a change request for each team?

Do you recommend linking change requests to change requests?

If the Change involved is very complex that requires close coordination across multiple groups, then it can be structured using Child Change Requests for orchestrating it efficiently.

The system is flexible to do this only as needed and does not required to be complex for all cases.

Initially, a CR can coordinate different Impact analysis (one per different departments/functional domains) -- created and managed by the change coordinator.  as the impact analysis evolves , Change Coordinator can decide to either create sub-CRs (as stated by Vinod) for other domains to answer separately (partner/supplier).  it is all a decision made based on the type of change request and impact analysis involved.

How to manage change on the instance attributes? If the instance attributes on the Physical Prod are under change, will the underlying structure be locked?

When the Instance attributes are being modified, either the parent Item that is composed of that instance can get change controlled or only the instance can be locked.

not sure to avoid handling template, our main business needs is sample, we need to put a list of mandatory attributes by domain (engineering, manufacturing, material, ..) on CR, so for that, we can not list a manufacturing  mandatory attribute for a CR dedicated to engineering, we need to split attribute by business and put them in a dedicated CR as template.

This can be achieved through Business Logic or Pre Commit process currently, but Templates are currently not available for Change objects to achieve this.

I have a full EBOM and assume only one section of the EBOM needs to be involved in the change without blocking the work going on in other departments. How to manage this scenario? Is there any Unit BOM concept to keep the changes specific to a dedicated department?

If only partial structure / modules needs to be under Change and the remaining part of EBOM should not get locked, then Change Control on Instance is the means to achieve this and it is available through parametrization console in Change Management section.

Not sure on the Unit BOM reference for this.

Can ITEROP be used to push the change objects through a workflow, instead of a Route Template?

Currently there are some ITEROP integrations possible, but not to replace the Route Template for Approval. We are working on improving the integration related to this.

What's the best practice to integrate a Change driven task into a Project plan ? (e.g. to include the appropriate resourcing, or timeline adjustments?)

There are few ways to achieve this. The simplest way is where the Change itself is a deliverable of a Task, that is already declared in the project, and hence it gets consumed in that Project.

Will the Auto Freeze functionality also work in the Change Mode Maturity Change?

Auto Freeze is only on Change Controlled mode and not for Maturity Change.

Is there any difference on the steps to create a Route for approval or route for standard template?

There are no differences in this steps to create a Route. Standard Route allows for Comment Task, while Approval does not do it. This is the main difference.

Is Change Required turn on when we release with CA under the mode to maturity change?

No, it is not. The usage for this option in Change Mode = Maturity Change is for use cases where you don't want the items to be under change control once the items are released/obsolete.  This is for use cases where departments want the flexibility to revise items outside of change and only release under change control.

Can we generate dashboards of all CO/CA and their status for making informed decisions on where to focus?

Yes, Dashboards can be made using Report Generator or Change Intelligence or Data Perspectives.

One of the common complaints is that once a Change Action is rigid. If some of the feedback warrants further work, CA should be stopped, change done and route started again. What is the best?

If the Change Controlled mode this was right, hence the new Maturity Change mode that relaxes the rework process.

It still requires Route revalidation for audit traceability.

Can you please provide more details on parametrization console in Change Management section?

In Collaborative Spaces Configuration Center:

Look for Change Management category.

In that, look for Change Required Options and you will have the following option:

Change Required on Instance and Compose in Configured Structure

Can we create a CA from a CR without a CHG role? What are the limitations of using CR without the CHG role? What cannot we do?

CR can be created without CHG, but all further assessment and actions require CHG. So to create CA on CR, CHG will be required to evaluate and orchestrate the Change.

There are many reasons Change Action may fail to complete (eg: missing part). However, CA errors out only at the last step and already too late. How can we find the problems upfront?

For checks that Change Action can deduce ahead, we are working in improving the process to guide the user more effectively.

There may still some checks that are coming from Data that Change may not anticipate, so here it may come during promotion.

This is something that is being worked on.

What if you receive the task while you’re  absent? No automatic delegation possible?

No, we do not have automatic delegation but the route owner can manually delegate.

It seems like the assignee still has to log in to hand off the task. If the main assignee is away, does the delegate have a way to go ahead and access the change?

Route Owner (Change Owner) will be able to transfer the assignment when the Assignee cannot log in.

So everyone should have in mind colleagues vacation plans…?

Change Owner (Route Owner) can do the delegation of the Tasks if someone is on vacation.

Ok but in a company route owners do not always know who is on vacation.. there should be a functionality allowing automatic delegation of all received task for a user. Or at least automatic replies like on outlook (which also offers “blocking calendar” functions btw)

We will take the feedback and evaluate how to improve the behavior for this scenario.

Auto-Freeze feature doesn't work when we choose Change Mode "Maturity Change", CA doesn't want to switch to In approval... is it any plan to change this?

If this is something happening very common, we can definitely consider adding this.

For Maturity Change, in most cases the Item being added will be in FROZEN hence the check does not come into play.

Since the process removed other checks, we wanted to avoid accidental release of an Item.

"My Change Actions" tab displays only 100 CAs. Due to this, new CAs are not seen in this view. Is this behavior corrected? On R2024x.

We need to check on this case of 100 CAs, as there should not be such limit.

Is the Cost managed through Business Value Developer (BVD) app, is change controlled?

Yes, Cost managed through BVD app has enabled Change support in recent releases.

How the changes in EBOM can be highlighted in the corresponding Mfg Item, that something is undergoing change in the design?

Flowdown capability is helpful in recognizing the impacting Changes related to Manufacturing from Engineering.

Also, you can use the BI Essential tool in the Manufacturing BOM management application that will highlight modifications in the EBOM that should be considered in the MBOM.

When the change is moved to next change will affect the current change, will it just complete without any issue?

The change should complete without any issues... This is especially useful when there is some long lead item that is blocking

Question not directly linked CHG - Is there a way to "freeze" a model within a 3DMarkup?

Because a 3DMarkup acts like a layer, and if the 3d model associated is modified, it also change into the 3DMarkup?

3DMarkup is created on top of product. Both (3DMarkup and Product) are separate objects and have their own maturity states which are not tightly coupled. To maintaining static record of review made using 3D Markup, you may consider beginning the review when product updates are frozen. This means no changes are made until feedback from the review is received. Then, based on the review feedback, if design changes are required, you can utilize Issue/CA along with minor/major revisioning. This ensures that the review details captured in the markup remain intact/static. Please refer to this blog for more information: Creating a Static Record of Reviews for Traceability & Auditing
