ENOVIA Configuration & Change Management | Webinar Replay

ENOVIA Configuration and Change Management | Replay

In this webinar with @ND and @PR, we explored how ENOVIA enables you to overcome challenges in traditional product development and launch processes through advanced product variability and configuration management tools, helping your organization to respond faster to market shifts, reduce time-to-market, and deliver tailored solutions that meet evolving market needs.

Agenda Details:

  • Overview of common business challenges, presented by @ND.

  • Explanation of the ENOVIA Solutions by @ND.

  • Live demonstration by @PR, which detailed the steps of managing changes in a configured structure.

Question

Answer

Can there be multiple base configurations?Yes, you could create multiple Base Configurations.
Can someone with the CSV role add applicability to the CA?Applicability functionality requires the CFG role.
The colors of the object were a configured item, I believe. How does this color get transferred to lower-level painting drawings and specifications? An ongoing initiative in R&D is targeting the management of colors, including the capability to visualize the digital mock up colored with the selected colors
At what point are we better off establishing model versions and filtering at the MID level? Or is the guidance to always filter at the EID level?

Terms are not clear:

If MID is: Model Item Definition, and EID is:

 is Engineering Item Definition:

  • Filter based on Model Revision level is to view the Engineering Items that are available in this “Evolution”
  • Filter based on Engineering Item level (you need to add a Product Configuration on this filter) is when you want to view the exact Engineering Items that belong to this product configuration (100% resolved Engineering definition)

You can select one or combination of above filters based on your need

is it possible in Model Definition to create a Product configuration based on Sales Intent?

The “Product Configuration Purpose” field in the Properties allows you to specify the intent of it. You can select anyone of the following option.

  • Order: This indicates that the product configuration is created for sale to customers. It is intended to be used in the market and will appear in the model version catalog.
  • Evaluation: This purpose is designated for internal engineering activities, such as testing configuration rules.

Accessory: The default for product configurations, based on variants and option groups.

When Ray created a change action for updates, did the new revision of the existing model version get created automatically? The Model Version creation is not automatic, but the Change Action can be targeted to the existing or future Model version(s) of the using Applicability.
A bigger bucket has been placed in the EBOM (physical). A change might also be needed on the linked LBOM (logical). How is this change propagated to the logical?

We have a Flow down capability in Change Action that can be used to propagate the Physical modifications to another structure.

Flow down enables to convey upstream information to downstream change along the digital thread in order to enable consistent end to end change implementation

Sometimes we set up effectivities proactively. meaning that we create an effective date some time in advance (sometimes months in advance). how can we set proactive effectivity using the CA process and ensure that it only becomes active on the effective date?Date effectivity is supported but not recommended. Change Action applicability can be used to target an evolution corresponding to an intent planned in the future.
How to add a date effectivity on newly revised part and indicate when the revised part will become effective for manufacturing?
Main Assembly
|__Part1 A.1 (Valid from 10-09-2025 to 100 days)
|__Part1 B.1 (Valid from 101 day to Infinite)
|__Part2 A.1 (Valid from 10-09-2025 to Infinite)

You can use the date effectivity through a setting that needs to be enabled by the administrator, and then apply it through the Model version evolution.

Effectivity is supported on instances, not references.
