In the final video in this series, I show how to design and synthesize a lowpass filter.Fest3D offers several lowpass filter topologies – rectangular corrugated, rectangular capacitive iris and coaxial, all with or without an impedance transformer. In this video, we show the workflow in the case of a rectangular waveguide corrugated filter.
We choose the frequency response, with four different ways to specify the out-of-band response. We also select the filter geometry, including the type of waveguide used. This time, we perform the post-synthesis optimization in Fest3D itself. By optimizing the design, Fest3D fine-tunes the filter parameters to meet the desired filter response more exactly.
