3DEXPERIENCE: Understanding Parts and Products

Structural simulation on the platform starts with 3D Parts and Physical Products. The following collection of eLearning videos will introduce you to these objects and how they are imported and created.

The material was created using 3DEXPERIENCE R2016x but is still valid for newer versions.

What is a 3D Part?

A 3D Part is a building block of a model combining geometry, mesh and material information.

What is a Physical Product and how to create assemblies?

You can build complex assemblies consisting of many components, which can be parts or other assemblies. The Physical Product is the database object that represents such an assembly and thus enhances the concept of 3D Parts.

Can we use Physical Products instead of 3D Parts?

This video illustrates the differences between Physical Products and 3D Parts.

Ordering & Absorption of features in hybrid PartBody design

The choice of hybrid part bodies affects how surface and wire frame features are added to the specification tree structure. Ordering of features mirrors the process of creating a design.
