Every year, on March 14th, @C and I have a tradition of getting together with a bunch friends to celebrate PI Day. A few years ago, I designed and made this pie cutter.
It was a lot of fun to make, so this year, I designed a few more tools to help me bake the perfect pie! I started by making a cookie cutter to cut the first few digits of PI out of the top crust.
I used SOLIDWORKS for Makers to model the cookie cutter and a Bambu P1S to print it out.
Then I modeled an edge crimper to seal the top and bottom crusts.
While designing these, I researched a bit about 3D prints and food safety. Check out this useful article from FormLabs to learn more.
Once everything was printed, I put the tools to the test making my favorite apple pie recipe (complete with a bit of home made caramel!).
