Design Exploration applications (apps) help the Simulation Analyst to explore multiple alternatives across a range of operating scenarios that enables optimal design selection using powerful decision-making tools.
With the Design Exploration applications, the Simulation Analyst can:
• Automate simulation methods with varying parameters allowing design space exploration and optimization.
• Generate key optimization parameters for improving product performance, reducing physical prototyping, and driving innovation.
• Systematically explore variations and trade-offs between design parameters with analytics and visualization to identify the best design that satisfies the requirements.
In the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the following Design Exploration applications are available under the Simulation portfolio:
• Parametric Design Study Essentials
• Parametric Design Study
• Design Exploration
Parametric Design Study Essentials and Parametric Design Study applications enable the Simulation Analyst to define and perform studies that explore alternative designs using parametric optimization methods.
The Design Exploration application enables the Simulation Analyst to define and perform studies that explore alternative designs using parametric and nonparametric optimization methods such as topology, shape and bead optimization.
The Simulation Analyst builds these studies using the applications packaged with the Structural Generative Engineer (OPZ) role on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
This best practice document focuses on and illustrates the various design exploration studies available in the Design Exploration application.
Prerequisites and recommendations: To use this best practice, the user must be familiar with the following roles: Structural Generative Engineer (OPZ).
Target Audience: Simulation Analysts.
In this Best Practice, you will learn about:
- Parameter, Trade-Off and Design Improvement Study types available in the Design Exploration app.
