What’s Changing:

We’ve combined multiple design roles into an all-in-one experience with the new SOLIDWORKS xDesign role.
This update brings together everything you love from:

  • 3D Creator
  • 3D Sculptor
  • 3D SheetMetal Creator
  • 3D Structure Creator
  • Manufacturing Definition Creator
  • 3D Mold Creator

Now, you can access all these capabilities in a single role.

 

What’s New:

  • Unified Experience:
    Say goodbye to managing multiple roles. Everything you need is now under one simplified license: SOLIDWORKS xDesign.
  • Streamlined Access:
    All your favorite tools are right at your fingertips in your 3DEXPERIENCE Compass quicker, cleaner, and easier than ever.

     

What You Need to Do to Activate SOLIDWORKS xDesign:

In a few steps, you will be able to activate your new role. This will eliminate any error messages you might see.
 

  1. Log in to your 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

  2. Open your dashboard list and click on the Members Management cockpit, then click the Members tab.

  3. Click the (i) icon next to your name. 

  4. Click View roles granted, and then clear the checkboxes for the following roles to ungrant them:

    • 3D Creator

    • 3D Mold Creator

    • 3D Sculptor

    • 3D SheetMetal Creator

    • 3D Structure Creator

    • Manufacturing Definition Creator

      NOTE:  Close the pop-up window when finished and repeat steps 3 and 4 for any other users on your platform.

  5. Under Roles, click the (i) icon for SOLIDWORKS xDesign

  6. A pop-up window will open. Click “View all”, then check the box next to your name and any other users you want to assign the role to.

  7. You’ll see a green “Granted” confirmation message.  Click “Refresh the page now”.

    NOTE: Repeat steps 5-7 for any other new role that hasn’t been granted yet (ex: Product Communicator).

  8. Return to your Dashboards list and click the new SOLIDWORKS xDesign cockpit to start designing. 

 

You’ll continue to have access to your other essential roles Product Communicator, 3D Motion Creator, Collaborative Industry Innovator, and 3DSwymer no changes required there.

If you do not see the SOLIDWORKS xDesign role or you cannot grant the role, please submit an Online Support Form and we will provide assistance.
