What is the Configuration Engineer role?
Configuration Engineer enables users to define all product variants in a single configured product structure. It allows users to retrieve parts from impacted variants in real-time through an “overloaded” design session to rapidly converge on the optimum design.
The Design in Configured Context capability enables users to simultaneously develop multiple products to address different markets with unique needs. It enables users to define effectivity ranges based on evolutions or variant values, while maximizing the reuse of common components and reducing costs.
What are the apps?
The key apps in the Configuration Engineer role are described below. Find information about the other apps in the Explore section.
Note: The icons are displayed as in the platform, however, they are not clickable.
3DConfigurator | With the 3DConfigurator, you can create or edit configurations. |
Change Execution | Change Execution lets you can create and manage change requests and change actions using features that are found in the other ENOVIA environments. |
Collaborative IP Management | Collaborative IP Management provides commands to manage the objects' lifecycle and collaboration (Duplicating objects, Viewing and modifying objects' attributes, Viewing the iterations of an object, and restoring one of them, Deleting objects). To collaborate with others, you can also manage the editability of objects, lock or unlock them, and change an object's owner. |
Manufacturing Finder | Manufacturing Finder is used for building the product, process, and resources (PPR) working session by applying various tools for navigating and opening product, manufactured item, system, and resource content. |
Product Explorer | Product Explorer enables you to navigate content through 3D visualization and structured trees. |
Product Finder | Product Finder enables you to navigate object structures, filter content, and open the content in a design context (Navigate object structures, Access and manage information on the tree entities, Open required content for update) |
Simulation Finder | Simulation Finder lets you access and manage data and processes that are contained within the active simulation. it provides lifecycle tools that are specific to simulations. You can use Simulation Finder to view your simulation model, scenario, and results on a turntable display. If you select an object from the turntable, Simulation Finder highlights the object both on the turntable and in the tree; double-click the object to explore its contents. |
System Finder | System Finder is used to navigate on the Requirement (R), Functional (F), Logical (L) and Physical (P) definition of a product. In other words, it is used for arranging the existing product-conception model based on the description of the product through different levels of abstraction (RFLP). |
