End-to-End Requirement Management for Manufacturing

Introduction

Objectives

This series' intention is to provide an end-to-end hands-on requirement management scenario within a manufacturing context and to answer the following questions:

  1. What is a Requirement and how to create/manage them from:
    1. Functional Tolerancing and Annotations (FTAs)
    2. Import from Word/Excel
    3. Creation from Scratch
    4. Duplicating Existing Requirements
  2. What are 'engineering' and 'manufacturing' requirements within a manufacturing context? How can they be interrelated?
  3. How to consume these requirements within a manufacturing context?
    1. In the Item Structure from a Product Structure and/or Resulting Product and/or from manually created requirement specification.
    2. In the Process Structure including Data Collect Plans from an Item Structure and/or Product Structure and/or manually created Requirement Specification
  4. What are the differences between a part fabrication scenario and an assembly scenario in the context of requirement management within a manufacturing context?
  5. What are some of the current limitations in the  requirement management scenario within a manufacturing context?
  6. How are 3DExperience requirements sent to APRISO (via data collect plans)?
  7. How are changes propagated?

Above questions are answered for Part Fabrication and Assembly scenario.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMERS: 

1. The document focuses on OOTB capabilities: for the moment, 'fasteners & requirements' are not explicitly discussed in this series.

2. Several ways of creating requirements are detailed but the series focuses primarily on FTA based Requirements in the end-to-end scenario. It also mainly focuses on the Geometrical and Dimensional FTAs with tolerances.

3. The hands-on exercises are not meant to be taken as a "best practice" but the scenarios may be used to discover the full range of requirement management capabilities in a manufacturing context.

Prerequisites

The reader should be familiar with 3DEXPERIENCE® basics. The release used for the creation of this series was 2022xFP2214 (or FD02). The usage of previous or later releases may lead to limitations or discrepancies with respect to what is contained in this document.
