| 📢 Before you proceed, please note: SOLIDWORKS Design installed from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and SOLIDWORKS Design installed using a serial number cannot exist on the same machine if they are the same release. To install SOLIDWORKS Design using a serial number, you must first uninstall the version installed from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. |
How to Install SOLIDWORKS Desktop
1. Fill up the community download form.
If you have previous versions of SOLIDWORKS installed it is advisable to Uninstall them before proceeding further.
Start>Settings>Apps>Uninstall.
If you have an active license while uninstalling
- If you are using the same device to reinstall SOLIDWORKS then "Uninstall without deactivating".
- If you are not using the same device to reinstall SOLIDWORKS then "Uninstall without deactivating".
Go to www.solidworks.com/support/community-download fill in the community download form. (www.solidworks.com/sek)
Note:
Enter Serial Number, click yes and proceed. Always check online for latest install documentation.
If you don't have a Serial Number, you will need to contact you School or university and ask them to give you a home-use license (i.e. SDK-ID, SEK-ID, Trial Code).
Select the SOLIDWORKS version for which you have serial number (Please check whether your license is entitled to the selected version).
Note: SOLIDWORKS Student Edition serial numbers are backwards compatible which means that if you have latest serial number you can download and install the previous version which means if you have serial number entitled to SOLIDWORKS 2026 then you can install 2025 or 2024 version however it does not work other way around meaning that if you have license entitled to SOLIDWORKS 2025 version then you will not be able to install 2026 or any future version.
2. Run the downloaded SolidworksSetup.exe.
3. Select the “Install On this Computer” option and click next.
4. Input serial code in the 3D Design section and click next.
Note:
1. Leave other sections blank. Installation Manager will run system requirement check and if anything missing program will notify.
2. After system check installer will take you to the summary page to display all the products you will be installing
5. Accept terms and conditions and click Install Now.
6. Click Finish.
SOLIDWORKS is now installed on your computer.
When you launch it, you will be asked to activate your license. You can either activate your license after the 30-day trial or activate your license straight away.
Follow the instructions in the next section for activation.
