Hello Experts,
I am trying to do a simulation of a ball bearing. I have downloaded the CAD geometry from SKF bearing website was was able to discretize the CAD geometry using hex and tet mesh. The bearing model gets stucked when i see the odb file. I mean to say that bearing model does not rotate for the entire time duration of 2 millisecond. Please let me know why is it so? Please see the picture below.
In continuation to my post, I would elaborate the problem: I am using an explicit solver to simulate the ball bearing. I have given rotational velocity of 1000 rad/s to the cage and balls for a step time of 0.01s. The balls and inner cage rotates for 0.004s only and then the rotation stops, whereas rotation should continue for the entire duration of 0.01s. After 0.004 s only stresses are being developed in the balls. If you could point the mistake from your experience that why is it so that rotation is not continuing for the entire step duration?
So I removed the balls from the simulation and checked the rotation of inner cage. After removing the balls from the bearing the inner cage was rotating properly for the entire time duration of 2 ms. But was surprised that by giving rotation velocity of 1000 rad/s only stress of 41 MPa are produced in a steel component. Please let me know why so high stresses are produced in the inner cage. Please see the attached picture.
