How to reset a frozen interface when the simulation is still running

The interface in Mechanical Scenario Creation has locked and become completely unresponsive. I have no visibility now on the progress of what is expected to be an analysis of 3 days or more. The analysis is definitely still running. The fans are going, the solver process is consuming +30% of RAM etc, but I could really benefit from understanding where the process is at. 

I have tried launching the 'Results Explorer' app from the 3DEperience dashboard and still no joy.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.
