CST - How to simulate shielding effectiveness (Faraday cage) with layered materials in CST?

Hello everyone,

I managed to import a 2D CAD model into CST Studio Suite and my goal is to run a simulation in order to determine how many layers of conductive material (Stabolec) are required to ensure effective electromagnetic shielding inside a Faraday cage.

I tried setting up the simulation, but I probably missed a step since I couldn’t obtain meaningful results. I am particularly interested in:

  • which simulation settings should be used for this type of EMC/shielding application,
  • how to define materials (e.g. copper, Stabolec) and the number of layers,
  • how to generate results and supporting documentation that show the shielding effectiveness.

If anyone has worked on a similar case, I’d really appreciate if you could outline the correct steps or share some best practices for this type of simulation.

Thank you in advance!
