When I use contour integral technique in ABAQUS to determine the 'Stress intensity factor' and 'Energy Release Rate' , I get good convergence in my results (what ABAQUS doc calls 'Domain independency') - that is, no fluctuation in the results from one contour to the other. 

But, when I use the contour integral technique for composites, my SIF and ERR results keep fluctuating with contours (contour dependency). 

The question is simple. Can the contour integral technique in ABAQUS be applied to composites / anisotropic materials? Why are my resutls not converging (why are they fluctuating) and what can I do to converge it?
