I am trying to model a non-planar sheet with complex cut-outs. A common example would be a piece of sheet metal that is bent to a specific shape, then machined with cut-outs perpendicular to this bent shape. In SolidWorks, this order of operations could be achieved with a "wrap" (YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a52KzOO4tzI). However, I can't seem to find an analogous capability in Abaqus. I can extrude cut a plane, which results in elongated features, as shown below, but I cannot find a way to cut or partition with respect to a non-planar (and not necessarily circular) surface.
I'm aware of the Abaqus plug-in to wrap planar solid meshes to cylinders (QA00000008170). I could possibly modify the plug-in to accept a different parameterization. However, I'm interested to hear any potential alternatives that I may be overlooking.
As always, thanks in advance.
