I am trying to dimension from an apparent/visible intersection point but cannot get the Esnap for this to work.

It selects one line and comes up with "and of" but I cannot select the second line and get no promts for where the intersection of the two lines maybe. "and of" cancels when I click on the line and it assumes this is the point where I want the dimension. Can anyone help?
