I was successfully using Draftsight on my Linux until I had to do a new Linux install. Although this is still the same version of Linux, ie Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32 bit I have not been able to reinstall Draftsight. I downloaded the .deb package and tried to install by the software centre and by GDebi. In both cases I get the message "Cannot install libgl1-mesa-glx" amd that's where it stops.

I have looked for libgl1-mesa-glx using synaptic and it gives a worryingly long list of things that it needs to uninstall before it can install the file. The list includes ubuntu-desktop, xorg and a lot of xserver files so its not clear if it is safe to make these changes.

How do I get past this situation so I can use draftsight again?
