Inserted Reference Image Becomes Pixelated No Matter What Size I Start With

Hi, I'm new to Draftsight. I'm creating a drawing for a laser engraver and am having trouble with inserted images. I'm creating the images with Inkscape and saving to .png format.

The first image I inserted, my CVD logo, looks ok but the others are becoming pixelated. I've tried saving in different sizes and using different scale values when inserting them but still can't get good quality. I attached an example of the word "BASS" in the original size and 32 high size as well as some screenshots of Draftsight. I also attached a shot of the word "MID" which was inserted in the original larger size but shows up as 32 high in the Reference Manager.

I started with an .svg image about 380 x 100 pixels and saved to a .png. I had to scale up to a value of 10 to get the right size proportional to my drawing after inserting. It was too pixelated so I tried  saving as a much larger size and setting the scale to 1.  It was still pixelated. I noticed in the References Manager that the image height after inserting and resizing was 32 pixels so I saved the image to .png at 32 pixels high and inserted with a scale value of 1. Still pixelated.

I have the IMAGEQUALITY set to HIGH. The image size in the Reference Manager is 32 high no matter what size I start with. My CVD logo has a much larger resolution size in the Reference Manager that is not relative to the displayed size in the drawing.

I don't understand how the scaling works and what size Draftsight needs the image to be. What is the proper way to insert an image so it does not become pixelated? What size should I start with and what should I set the scale to? Should I be using a different image format? I need the format to handle transparency.

I'm using Draftsight 2018 SPO Beta on LinuxMint 17.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
