File won't open with a Space in the name

I have a user that sent me an email showing me that his machine will not open a file with a space in the file name. His process is he saves the file to his Desktop or tries to open it from our email system and the file without a space will open without issue, but the file that has a space in it he gets an error saying it cannot find "X" file. What it lists in "X" is the Second part of the Word in the file name and leaves the first part off (Per the example we setup). If you go to File\\Open and browse to the file it works fine. The file name for example is "ABCDEF 111111.dxf" the only part within the error is "111111". Final error says "Cannot find drawing 111111.dxf"

I tested this on my Windows 7 - 64 bit machine and it it works fine, he is using 32-bit XP machine and is seeing this problem. Is anyone else seeing this and if so, were you able to find a solution to this issue?

Thanks,
