As I work in DS2017, new additional layers are somehow being created.

Example:I start off with a layer that I created, called Text. After working for a while, I see there are now layers such as Text, Text_1, Text_10, Text_11, Text_1_1 and so on.

Why is this happening and how do I stop it? I've been using DS for years and have never seen this before.
