Is is possible for the Area operator to display square feet?

Simple use case

1. Set preferences to length unit = Foot (ft)
2. Constructed a Rectangle of 4' by 10'
3. Created a Fill surface
4. Applied the Area operator to the Fill surface node
5. Area operator displays 3.716 m2

Given preferences were set to Foot (ft), I was expecting the are node to report 39.999 ft2

What is the most unadorned, minimalist, way to report area in the unit of square feet?
