Hello,
I am a student currently teaching myself ABAQUS, and I would appreciate some help with my model.
I am analyzing a slab baseplate modeled entirely with Solid (C3D8R) elements. The setup is as follows:
My problem is that I don't know how to extract the moment values from the results.
I have tried to request the maximum moment from the history output, but I can't find the correct variable for solid elements. The tutorials I've found only explain how to get force-moment relationships for beam elements, with no information on solid elements.
When I try to request reaction moments (RM) at the constrained corner nodes, I get the following error message:
Output variable rm has no components in this analysis
I understand this is because solid element nodes only have translational degrees of freedom. So, my question is:
How can I properly check the moment results for a plate modeled with solid elements? What specific output variables should I select in the field or history output to find the bending moments?
Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
