File versioning with 3DExperience/Enovia

In the past, our team has been using products like SolidWorks Workgroup PDM and SolidWorks PDM Professional to manage CAD files. What these tools had in common was that they automatically kept versions of all the files that were checked in, so that we could easily go back to a previous version of a file if the most recent version was broken or had major problems. The older versions were hidden somewhere on the server (and could quickly be retrieved with the software), so having a lot of versions would not create a mess.
What is the best practice to do something like this with 3DExperience/Enovia? As far as I am aware, the "save" command does not keep any old versions. Creating a new revision every time when making a small change would create a huge mess very quickly.
