We will use this post as place to share Abaqus User-Subroutines related to material modeling and information about V/UMATs. Please make comments to this post and create your own posts around this subject. I will link together and organize related posts. Since there are also pockets of information about UMATs already on the web, we will also link to those places from this post. It would also be nice to accumulate a reference list of significant papers about writing V/UMATs. This post will be "under construction" for quite some time.
If you Google something like "Abaqus umat subroutine example", you find many hits, including YouTube (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5br5fjqK0uM ), iMechanica, ResearchGate, and many Universities. And, of course, there is an Abaqus course on writing V/UMATs and other user-subs.
The book Introduction to Computational Plasticity (2006) by F. Dunne and N. Petrinic discusses user material implementations in Fortran. The book does give several UMAT and VUMAT examples for ABAQUS, and code and input files can be downloaded from the Oxford University Press website.
Another book is Computational Methods for Plasticity, (2008) by Neto, Peric and Owen, From the book: Many of the techniques discussed in the text are incorporated in the FORTRAN program, named HYPLAS, which accompanies this book and can be found at www.wiley.com/go/desouzaneto.
Soils Modeling: http://www.soilmodels.info/ This is a nice website for sharing constitutive models for geotechnical materials. This website is well organized, well documented and has recent activity as of 2016. It also has code for and documentation about a UMAT/VUMAT calling interface.
