Numerical Characterization of Advanced Materials Behavior | RUM 2023 EuroMed Italy

I am pleased to share the presentation of the technical seminar  "Numerical Characterization of Advanced Materials Behavior", with you, which I held at the SIMULIA Regional User Meeting EuroMed — Italy, on June 21 in Modena.

Note - the Material Calibration App demos that were presented are based on examples which @TD has shared on this community.

Technical Seminar Abstract:

Whether you’re working with metals, composites, elastomers, or anything in-between, it’s likely that the SIMULIA provides the material models you need to realistically simulate the material behavior that drives the performance of the engineering component you’re designing. In this seminar, we’ll cover tools and approaches enabling advanced material modeling, including:

  • The 3DEXPERIENCE Material Calibration App for calibrating Abaqus material models to test data
  • Overview of recent technology developments around material modeling in the Abaqus FEA solvers
  • Mulitscale material modeling approaches, including the Mean Field Homogenization method and Representative Volume Element approach

Presenter Biography:

Ross MCLENDON is the Product Manager for Abaqus FEA within the SIMULIA R&D organization. Prior to assuming this role at the beginning of 2023, he worked in R&D as a mechanics developer for the Abaqus solvers and the Material Calibration App for 3DEXPEREIENCE after starting at Dassault Systèmes in 2013 as a member of the back-end mechanics support team. He also managed the Micromechanics Plugin development for Abaqus/CAE, which is used throughout industry and academia for FE-RVE simulation. He holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University, where his research focused on the multiscale material simulation of composites.
