A new simulation example entitled, “Johnson-Cook Material Calibration of Aluminum,” is available in the R2021x FD03 user assistance. The new example expands the breadth of our simulation examples by illustrating the capabilities of the Material Calibration app. All of the information in the example is presented with clear, step-by-step instructions that should take you about 30 minutes to complete.
The example’s workflow begins with you importing stress-strain test data to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. You then select an appropriate material response model to calibrate to your test data. After you successfully calibrate the model, you export it as a new material definition in the 3DEXPERIENCE materials database. You can apply the new material definition to a product assembly for a future simulation, ensuring that the material’s response replicates real-world behaviors.
To learn more and complete the example for yourself, see Johnson-Cook Material Calibration of Aluminum.
The SIMULIA Simulation Examples team is soliciting ideas for new examples. If you have cool workflow ideas that also align with our business goals and IPEs, in addition to an IP-free 3D XML model (if applicable), please comment below so the team can contact you to collaborate. We also invite feedback on all our existing Simulation Examples.
