Overview
NatureFibreBike 5.0 is a demonstrator project for Industry 5.0 at Trier University of Applied Sciences. The focus is on the development of a customized bicycle frame made of natural fiber composites and additively manufactured lugs. This Bachelor's thesis contributes to the project by developing and validating an anisotropic material model for flax-reinforced composites, integrating it into a finite element simulation of the frame tubes, and ultimately simulating the entire frame. Mechanical testing and simulations are closely combined using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. A key challenge is accounting for the variability of natural fibers when determining reliable material properties.
The Regional User Meeting in Bamberg was a great experience for me. I had the opportunity to engage in many interesting conversations and received valuable advice for my project from experienced SIMULIA users. This was especially helpful, as I am still in the early stages of my thesis. As a student, it was particularly exciting to see how SIMULIA tools are used professionally across various industries, far beyond the academic environment I’m usually familiar with.
