I am pleased to share with you the presentation titled "Multiphysics and Multiscale Technologies: Abaqus-Simpack and Other Examples", which I held at the SIMULIA Regional User Meeting EuroMed — Italy, on June 20 in Modena.
Abstract:
Multiphysics and Multiscale Technologies: Abaqus-Simpack and Other Examples
As physical simulations require the mastering of laws in different domains such as structural mechanics, fluid dynamics and electromagnetics, reasonably accurate predictions often require a holistic approach. The modeling of multiphysics and multiscale coupling varies in function of the external conditions and product intrinsic characteristics and it challenges engineers across multiple disciplines. Interconnections between physical domains and fidelity abstractions require the uni- or bi-directional mapped communication of physical quantities between the specialized applications.
The proposed multi-physics and multi-scale approach aims at generality with a wide range of coupling strength. A few examples will be presented, such as Abaqus-to-Simpack workflows, together with the latest additions to our co-simulation tools.
Presenter Biography:
After graduating in Civil Engineering at Politecnico di Milano with a specialization in Structures, @OB took a deep dive into the field of Computational Mechanics, earning his Ph.D. at Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan (France) in 2014 with the manuscript titled “A weakly-intrusive multi-scale substitution method in explicit dynamics”, a topic of interest for the Airbus Vulnerability Tech Center. Omar has since joined Dassault Systèmes, first as a Developer of Abaqus/Explicit in Providence, RI (USA), then, after moving back to France to the Dassault Systèmes Paris Campus, as a Developer of the Modeling Apps in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Since 2020, Omar has been covering the position of Technology Manager in the Multiphysics/Structures Science & Technology team, with the specific mission to explore advanced multi-physics and multi-scale technologies for solid mechanics and surrogate modeling methods for faster insight during the design exploration phase of the product lifecycle.
