MODSIM Customer Story | University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ)

The Centre for Future Materials (CFM) from the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) is pioneering research and development in advanced composite manufacturing for civil, mining and aerospace sectors. They're leveraging the 3DEXPERIENCE platform (using CATIA, SIMULIA, DELMIA and ENOVIA) to help create a digital thread for the end-to-end composite repair process in aircraft components, as well as exploring digital solutions for composites manufacturing. This digital thread connects inspection, design, manufacturing, repair, curing, and back to inspection, enabling continuous feedback.

Repairing aerospace-grade composite parts is complex and highly variable, relying heavily on technician skill, leading to inconsistent results. Read how engineers are using Modeling and Simulation (MODSIM) for damage detection and how by automating the optimization loop between CATIA and SIMULIA using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, engineers can explore design outcomes to identify the most effective repair type and geometry.
