Modeling and Simulation for Undersea Defence Technology | EuroCentral RUM

Abstract

MODSIM is a process that integrates modeling and simulation into a single streamlined workflow for product development. This approach enables designers and engineers to collaborate more effectively, experiment with designs using simulation tools, and produce near-optimal solutions with fewer physical prototypes. The result is faster and more affordable product development that leads to highly optimized products. This presentation demonstrates how MODSIM can be applied to a submarine platform design with a focus on stealth. The hydrodynamic system model using DYMOLA, as well as the hydrodynamic wake impacting the radar cross-section signatures using SIMULIA software are analysed and optimized.
