IVECO: Modes Based Transient Analysis: A Case Study on a Heavy Truck Subsystem | RUM 2023 EuroMed Italy

We are pleased to share with you the presentation titled "Modes Based Transient Analysis: A Case Study on a Heavy Truck Subsystem" which Giuseppe IEROPOLI presented at the SIMULIA Regional User Meeting EuroMed – Italy, in Modena, on June 20, 2023.

Abstract:

Modes-Based Transient Analysis: A Case Study on a Heavy Truck Subsystem

For a reliable Durability Simulation, it is crucial to have a FE model responding very closely to reality, especially when the most relevant phenomena appear in the field of dynamics. Moreover, it is also important to have the time histories “ready to go” for feeding the simulations already usable, avoiding other steps like, for instance, intermediate Multibody Simulations to carry out the loads/perturbations for the analysis of the component to be evaluated.

In this work, it is possible to see the application of the Modes Based Transient Analysis on a subsystem of a Heavy Truck, using the acceleration signals directly measured on the Vehicle over the Proving Ground.

By means of a correlation, it will be possible also to observe that this method has a very high potential not only for the Durability Simulations but also for all the other types of analysis where the dynamic behavior of the analyzed component is relevant.

Presenter Biography:

Giuseppe IEROPOLI is a Mechanical Engineer who graduated from Politecnico di Torino with a thesis topic about the comparison of various methods to simulate the Fatigue Life Prediction of an automotive suspension component.

Giuseppe started his professional life as a consultant for important Automotive OEMs working in the field of Virtual Simulations about Structural Strength and Implicit Dynamics topics, mainly dedicated to Durability Analysis. When he moved to CRF, he continued in this role, adding several methodological studies for Fatigue, Elastomers, Digital Signal Processing and Structures in general. After this experience, Giuseppe moved to IVECO S.p.A. (a Company of Iveco Group) as Durability Performance Engineer.

Giuseppe continues his contribution to simulation-related topics, not only for Virtual Approval but also for Methodologies for Fatigue and Structural, with a deep sight into the world of testing.

The curiosity that it is possible to work and calculate with simulation close to reality has driven Giuseppe for over 20 years to continually find new solutions to obtain reliable simulations and good results.

Giuseppe IEROPOLI is a SIMULIA Champion.
