Ever wanted to create a new input file for just part of your model?

This plug-in will create an input file from the nodes and elements currently shown in the viewport in the Visualization module of Abaqus/CAE. This can be useful for creating an arbitrary subset model after the entire geometry has been meshed and stored in an ODB file. 

To use the plug-in, download the zip file and unzip it into your abaqus_plugins folder. Then start Abaqus/CAE or Abaqus/Viewer and open an ODB. Use the Display Group tools to reduce what's shown in the viewport to just the elements of interest. Then invoke the plug-in by selecting Plug-in -> Write Input File. Enter an input file name and click OK and you're done!

This plug-in will work with Abaqus/CAE v6.11, for certain, but it may also work with other versions too.
