Prerequisite, please view : FE-mode simple elastic calibration w/ unit cube
This is a follow-on example, used to show what happens when there is more than one material in the FE model. This example has two unit cubes, each unit cube made of a different material. There is one made of aluminum and one made of steel. We will assume that we know the steel material in the structure and that we know the properties (E, nu) of that steel. We will assume that we do not know the aluminum, or don't know its Young's Modulus.
As you import your mesh/model, if the model contains more than one material you will see an additional line in the dialog window (see red highlight in the image below).
The calibration app purposely limits the user to calibrating only one material. Attempting a simultaneous calibration of multiple materials would typically lead to serious non-uniqueness issues. The video below shows the calibration process. This video was created using the 3DX public cloud, R2022x FD02, HotFix 2.11 on May 18, 2022.
The zip file attached contains 6 files:
1) The synthetic test data: two_elements_test_data.txt
2) The FE model file: alum_STUC_2_unit_cubes.inp
3) Two png images
4) Two 3dxml files
