The SIMULIA Cloud embeds powerful tools from Isight and PowerFLOW Suites. Combining them together yields to efficient workflows to tackle muldisciplinary problems. The methodology is first applied to an already existing excavator model with prime objective to optimize the engine cooling. Five design parameters of the fan geometry are defined. An optimum for the massflow through the fan (+15%) is first obtained within 2 weeks thanks to the automation process. Second consideration is the underhood cooling fan noise assessment. The newly obtained optimum is simulated with PowerFLOW in real test conditions (ISO6393) and appears to have a significantly higher acoustic signature. Acoustic insulation is consequently added on the fan shroud and simulated again. New version brings back the acoustics levels to the originally non optimized fan for a very limited penalty on the cooling massflow.
