A new physics simulation example, titled "Durability Analysis Using the FKM Guideline," is available on R2021x FD07. This example teaches you how to use the Mechanical Scenario Creation app to perform a structural simulation and durability analysis, and to use Physics Results Explorer to assess the results. After installing the appropriate software, the step-by-step instructions should take you 1-2 hours to complete.
The durability analysis uses the FKM guidelines to evaluate the expected lifetime of welded joints. In this example, you first set up a structural simulation on an excavator bucket model, using load cases that cover typical in-service loads. You then use the calculated stress as a basis for a durability analysis using the FKM Guideline.
To learn more and to complete the example for yourself, see Durability Analysis Using the FKM Guideline.
The SIMULIA Simulation Examples team is soliciting ideas for new examples. If you have cool workflow ideas that also align with our business goals and IPEs, in addition to an IP-free 3D XML model (if applicable), please comment below so the team can contact you to collaborate. We also invite your feedback on all of our existing simulation examples.
