Gathering Materials from Unlikely Sources for the New Supply Chain

As part of the OPEN COVID19 community, I've been involved in designing and 3DPrinting face shields. My husband's students from WPI's engineering design class are participating in this community.

We had a problem trying to source PET or Acetate for 100's of face shields. Thanks to some Formula SAE students, they did some research and found PET roll in Canada from an unknown plumbing supply store and other components from automotive part suppliers.

Normal PET roll is 10-12 weeks out from plastic suppliers. Hardware stores are out of many materials.

Our friends at SIndoh have been great supplier PLA for shields.

Thank you to those who are helping in the "new" supply chain.
