WHY: The COVID19 pandemic is nothing like we have seen before. But something even more scarier is on the horizon.
Over the next few months or years, we can expect COVID19 to induce or exacerbate mental disorders in vulnerable people, and see behavioral effects of persistent distress within the general population. The closest comparison is the Great Depression, in the aftermath of which there was increased incidence of depression, anxiety and suicides.
So how do we scale mental health services for the COVID19 challenge -
- How do we ensure people are screened from the very beginning when they show signs of non-specific mental distress
- How do we ensure they receive continual care, which includes livelihood interventions, peer support groups, adherence support and psychosocial support in their communities, so that the distress does not move towards psychiatric issues?
- How do we support them better, when they have indeed moved towards psychiatric issues?
WHO: Hi all, we are BrainSight.AI, and our mission is to build generalized tools for solving the hardest problems in the field of neuro-psychiatry. And the hard problem in COVID19 is - how do we scale support when health services are so burdened already?
WHAT: We are building a completely new type of AI based tool, call it psychosocial AI, which uses the power of AI to build the social and medical support that vulnerable people require in their communities.
- Our tool can help in initial screening.
- Our specially designed AI can nudge people to seek help
- Our AI can help caregivers give better support (and feel supported themselves).
- Our tool also aids in medicine adherence.
All in all, the tool is a glue that enables the family, the community and the doctor together to manage psychological issues.
