Dear MAKERS | Support community members,

Thank you for all of your suggestions regarding enhancements for 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers. Your detailed descriptions, use cases and screenshots especially help us to identify opportunities for making the software more useful to MAKERS. Over the next week, we would like to spotlight a few enhancements coming on May 18th that were requested in this community by MAKERS.

Spotlight 1: Java Runtime Environment Prompt

The first spotlight is on the Java Runtime Environment prompt which appears when installing SOLIDWORKS Connected. With the May 18th platform update:

• The wording makes it clearer that JRE version 11 is required.
• The links bring you closer to what you need.

Since the direct download links cannot be hard-coded, here is one of the supported version 11 installers:

The improved prompt will be visible to new 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers subscribers as well as existing scribers who are installing SOLIDWORKS Connected on another computer.

Future Plans

For the long term, we are also working on eliminating the JRE requirement completely in a future release.
