Desktop shortcut is the most preferred and used method to launch an application for SOLIDWORKS users. Considering this, with the Makers platform update scheduled on 27th July 2022, a SOLIDWORKS Connected desktop shortcut will automatically be created once the user launches this application for the first time.

Current workflow to set up a desktop shortcut…

After the R2022x FD03 update, this shortcut will automatically be created once the application is installed and launched for first time. It includes information about the current launch as well. This shortcut will be updated with each major upgrade to the platform.

As mentioned in the [Enhancements for Makers] Offline Mode​​​​​​​ post, users will need to use this shortcut for launching SOLIDWORKS Connected application when utilizing the offline work mode.
