Corrective action completed for "Unable to perform action. Please contact your administrator" error when attempting to assign roles.

Hello Makers,

Since this past weekend's upgrade event, some of you have posted questions and comments in this community for assistance with a problem encountered when attempting to assign roles to yourself.

The scenario is...

  • You had roles such as, but not limited to, 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Professional successfully assigned to and used by you prior to December 6th.
  • When you access your 3DEXPERIENCE for Makers platform, the previously assigned roles are no longer assigned to you.
  • When you go into the Members Control Center, you see the roles are listed as available to assign.
  • You attempt to reassign yourself the roles and you receive an error that says, "Unable to perform action. Please contact your administrator".

For the specific scenario above, the corrective action for identified impacted users was completed as of 6:00 PM EST on December 10th.

If you were impacted by the above issue, then you should...

  1. Log out of your 3DEXPERIENCE platform via your web browser's window.
  2. Via a web browser window, sign in again to your platform.
  3. Click the Compass and then explore your list of available apps.
  4. You should see the apps listed that were previously missing due to the above issue.  The roles that were unassigned from you due to this issue have been reassigned to you already as part of the corrective action.
  5. Launch your desired app (or first update the installation of SOLIDWORKS Design on your desktop if you have not already done so.)

If you are still experiencing what seems to be the above issue, then please either comment this post or create a new community question. Please include an image of the full browser window showing the error.

(Note: Please be aware that the above scenario is a separate topic from the advice listed in the post titled "ACTION REQUIRED to continue using SOLIDWORKS xDesign for Makers".

Kind Regards,

The SOLIDWORKS Maker team
