During my internship here at DS I began working with Sal Lama to create some storage solutions for the lab. While my internship was not long enough to fabricate the design, I was able to complete a CNC capable CAD model for the storage solution. Sal promised he would put it together so a post will be made eventually!
The original idea was to create a rolling cart based off of a similar storage idea from a fellow intern's university's fabrication lab, though my twist was increased modularity. The French cleats on the side walls provide greater options for tool storage, the opposite end of the French cleat will contain a unique storage for power tools, or screwdrivers, or hammers, etc, allowing the users of the rack to switch out the tool holders based on their current project.
While the original concept was more solid, Sal suggested we switch to a CNC approach for fabrication lab users to easily fabricate the design, hence the cross beam supports and joint connected walls.
The design is not 100% complete, some touches are needed for easier manufacturing.
